The Kingdom Is Within You:

The following excerpts were taken from a message delivered by Minister Farrakhan in Newark, New Jersey on December 11, 2004 as the keynote address of the 12th Annual Pre-Kwanzaa Festival held by the city’s Cops Against Police Brutality.]

In The Name of Allah, The Beneficent, The Merciful.

The war in Iraq is not your war; that’s Israel’s war. Iraq was not an enemy of America as such; Iraq could not do anything to America. I’ve been there on several occasions. For the last 12 years under UN sanctions, the Iraqis could not protect their own airspace. There were “no fly” zones in the north and south, and America and England bombed Iraq at will. For 12 long years, you have never read that one American or British plane was shot down. So, how can a nation that cannot protect its airspace be a threat to a superpower like America?

Iraq has the second largest reserve of oil in the world. Afghanistan is the greatest producer of the poppy, which produces heroin. We may not agree with some of the harsh religous edicts of the Taliban, but drugs were not flowing when the Taliban was in power, but now the drugs are freely moving. The aim of the West is Guns, Oil, and Drugs. This is the god in whom America trusts.

Iraq, Iran, Syria, and Libya hated the fact that Israel took land from the Palestinians, so these countries were an inveterate enemy of Israel. So, how does Ariel Sharon inspire America to go to war with Iraq, when Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11? The neo-conservatives who manipulate the government are like the rudder of a ship. The rudder is a small thing, but it turns a big ship in the ocean. The rudder that is turning America is not your elected officials; it’s that small influential group of neo-conservatives that are using America’s power to destroy the enemies of Israel.

The young men, Black, brown and poor white, can see that their government is not investing in their development. The factories that used to be in the inner cities of America, in the last 30 years began to move out of the inner cities because the wise policymakers said that racial unrest will cause the cities to explode in racial conflict, and where cities explode, business cannot happen. So factories began to close down in the cities of America and move to the suburbs, and also out of the country to Third World countries for a cheap labor market, leaving Blacks, Hispanics and poor Whites to fend for themselves in the inner cities.

When there are no jobs for you, and an educational system that is not repairing you for what is needed in 2000 and beyond, then what they have for our young people is the building of brand new prisons. They are putting prisons on the stock exchange so that rich people can invest in our suffering. It’s like investing in a hotel that you know is going to have full occupancy. The rich investors see that the poor Black, brown and poor white, will fill the prisons of America because the rich have cut off avenues of serious development for the people.

So, they close off legitimate avenues of expression and open up two—crime and the armed services. Who is dying in Iraq today? It is babies, 18, 19, 20 years old. President George Bush can go to sleep every night, while American families are losing their loved ones on the basis of a lie. Yet, nobody seems to have enough fortitude to stand up and say to America, “Never again will you get my babies for an unjust war!”

What is going on in the world is a battle between “theocracy” and “democracy.” “Theo” and “cratis” are Greek words. “Cratis” in Greek means “rule.” In Latin, it’s “craci.” In English, you change the “i” to a “y”—“cracy” (rule). “Theo” in Greek means “god.” The Greek word is “demos”—demos cratis. In Latin, it’s demon craci. In English, you drop the “n,” put a “y” on the end, and you have democracy. “Democracy” is “the rule of the people,” but what kind of people? It’s the very opposite of theocracy. It’s the rule of a devil.

Are you fighting for democracy? You have lived under it. It’s the rule of that which opposes the way of God, where the rich get money and power at the expense of the ignorance of the masses. Democracy presupposes an enlightened electorate that knows its self-interest, then has the right to choose what is in their best interest. How enlightened are you to what is in your self-interest? Right now, you have a large percentage of students graduating from high school as functional illiterates. Some of you who are in Rutgers University, Seton Hall and Princeton, if I asked you to write me something—not go to a computer—you would not know how to compose a letter, because you do not know how to spell and do not know the language sufficiently to set your ideas in written form. How then did you graduate? You were programmed for failure. There is a dumbing down of the masses of the American people, so that your thinking is between your legs and not between your ears.

Since you are living under “democracy,” do you have equal justice under the law? Do you have equality of opportunity? When it looks like you are the majority in a city, what kind of tricks and games are played to keep you from exercising power, even after you are voted into office? Why, in the city of Newark when you have a Black mayor and a predominantly Black city council, are you not setting the budget in a way that benefits the least of these? How can the Newark Port Authority owe the city of Newark a large sum of money, and we have a right to put them out, but we don’t do it? So, they withhold what they owe, and the mayor and city administration can’t lift the standard of the masses of the people.

You have the mistaken thought that, when you vote a Black man into office, things are going to be alright. You do not see the strings pulling on the chair that he sits in. You think that, when you vote for somebody, that’s all you have to do. That’s democracy. It’s like playing football. When the ball is snapped to the quarterback, he fakes giving it to the halfback, but he runs back and throws a pass for a touchdown to his man. The games of football and basketball are about how you outfox or outsmart your opposition. No matter how much you think you are getting control of certain elements of power, the people in power are always manipulating and moving things around. This is democracy. Do you want to send your children to die for this?

You say, “But, Minister Farrakhan, what can we do?” You can stand up like a man and a woman. Since we are all going to die, why not live and die for the freedom of your people?

The enemy is plotting, through democracy, to make the whole world submit to so-called democratic values, so that the demons of the West can rule all the darker peoples of the world under “demo cracy.”

Many of you in the audience are Christians and many of you are Muslims, and even if you are neither, when your mother taught you how to pray, she said, “Now, child, I want you to get down by your bed at night and say this prayer, ‘Our Father, which art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy Will be done on Earth, even as it is in heaven.’”

Jesus came to this Earth, but he said his kingdom was not of this world. When he met John the Baptist and was baptized, he said, “The Kingdom of God or heaven is at hand.” Then, as he began his mission, he told the people, “The Kingdom of heaven or God is within you.”

That’s why when you see Muslims in Iraq fire a rocket and it destroys an American tank, they cry out, “Allah-u-Akbar! God is great!” Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld already told the Shiites in Iraq, “We’re not going to permit you to have an Islamic government.” What is an Islamic government? It is a government where God’s laws govern the people. When you pray for the Kingdom to come, you are praying to live under God’s rule because you believe that under His rule, freedom, justice and equity will become a reality.

But what does Jesus mean, that the Kingdom is within you? This is a profound study. The greatest knowledge that you could possess is the knowledge of self and the knowledge of God. Whether you want to believe it or not, those two knowledges are one and the same. A Muslim might say, “Wait a minute, Farrakhan, that sounds a little contrary to my understanding of Islam.” Yes, it may very well be, but let’s look a little deeper into your understanding of Islam. The Qur’an says that, “God created Adam to be His khalifah.” I’m not an Arabic scholar, but I read what it means. Khalifah means “one who stands in the place of another as his successor.” God has man as His khalifah. How can you stand in the place of God and not have within you the ability to rule, according to the way of God?

The Bible says it a little differently. The Bible says, “He created man in His own image and after His own likeness.” Then, He gives the man that He created dominion, the power to rule the fowl of the air, the fish of the sea and every creeping thing that crawls upon the earth. It is for us to rule it, but to rule it according to the way of God.

So, who are you that God would allow you to stand in His place? Who are you? You say, “Well, you’re saying that about men? I’m a woman. What about that, you male chauvinists?” When we say the Attributes of God, we say, “Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim. In The Name of Allah, The Compassionate or The Beneficent, The Merciful.” These are His two main attributes; one is masculine and one is feminine. In the Qur’an, He says, “I created you from a single essence and I created your mate of the same.” So, if we (men) are “Hakim,” meaning “the wise,” you (women) are “Hakimah,” the feminine side of God. That’s why any religion that suppresses and oppresses women does not understand the book of scripture out of which they read. There’s no way you can tell me you understand the Qur’an and put a woman down.

“The Kingdom is within you.” Before there was a universe, there was Allah (God). He came before the universe. That’s powerful. We are living in a day when God has kept certain knowledge from the wise and prudent men of this world and is now revealing that kind of wisdom unto little babes—the Black man and woman of America. The scepter of rulership is passing out of the hands of the East, away from Jews, Muslims and Christians, and into the hands of a people that were no people at all. Don’t think that White Muslims, White Christians and White Jews don’t know that your time has come and that you are the people of the fulfillment of the prophecies of God’s promise.

Soon, we are going to call for an international conference to argue these points with religious scholars of the world, with what Master Fard Muhammad gave to us. You can take it or let it alone. This is why Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) saw the sun rising from the West in the latter days. The racism that afflicts Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Socialism and Communism—I don’t care what “ism” you accept, you’re always under some Caucasian—time is out for that racism. I do not mind accepting the rulership of intelligent White people, if they’re intelligent enough to rule. But this madness that’s going on in Washington, I cannot let that rule me. I cannot let that determine the future of a people who are hungering to breathe free. “Well, what are you going to do about it, Farrakhan?” you ask.

The only thing that I can do is help to raise the level of your consciousness and call you into a form of unity that will make us a formidable power, that we can leverage our unity to correct the ills that affect us and affect this society. You cannot do it by yourself. I cannot do it by myself. You have tried it your way, but your way has not worked. But together, we have not tried the unity of us, as a people. You do not need weapons. I’m telling the gang-bangers, “put them down, Brother, because you don’t need guns. We need each other.” I guarantee you that our unity will terrorize the opposition. They would call us “terrorists.” That’s a big word today, “terrorists,” but without any weapons of mass destruction. Our unity is a weapon of mass construction.

Then, we can begin to pool our resources intellectually and financially, and begin to determine a future for a whole people. I have been talking to some preachers and I have said to them, “Brothers, you have to stop thinking of yourself as the minister of your congregation. You have to start seeing yourself as the shepherds of a people who need shepherding. Your ministry is not in the church; your ministry is in the streets.”

Jesus did not build these kind of buildings. We glory in our buildings, saying, “Oh, look at my new church. Isn’t it magnificent?” But Jesus was by the Sea of Galilee and he was in the open fields, because he was not interested in building monuments to ignorance; he was interested in building people to reflect God.

The way the bricks in a building are mortared together is the way Paul pictured the real house of God. It is human beings, like bricks, mortared together, where nothing can come through us. We become like a solid wall, when we can put people together like that. We should spend money not to build skyscrapers, but to build human beings whose feet can be on the ground, while their head reaches into heaven.

I stumbled across this board reading some of Tamahu's post on another discussion board (Above Top Secret)

Until reading his posts (i assume dude b/c of the sun next to his gender) my knowledge of NOI and Farrakhan had been limited to Haley's biography on Malcolm and news coverage of his more controversial statements(which I now see were mostly taken out of context)....The Kingdom in Within You is one of the most profound and engaging speeches I have ever encountered. I have so many questions I don't really know where to start, but I'm sure the brethren and sistren here can enlighten me...

I offer this info to provide a little background on me as I think it may be relevant to my questions...My ancestry is Mexican and Hungarian and as cool as being mexigarian is, would my pale skin bar me from the NOI or some of the more esoteric organizations Tamahu mentioned like Ausar Auset?

I have rejected organized religion since the passing of my dad at 17 when the pastor told me he was going to hell since he was not a Christian...since then I have been consumed with a passion for the escoteric and occult...this has lead me from experimenting with psychedelics plants to LaVey's Church of Satan to Crowley's Ordo Templi Orientis to Freemasonry. I see masonry as one heir to the ancient mystery schools of Egypt and Greece, but readily acknowledge the Greeks/Druids/Masons probably stole/borrowed/took the concept of ritual, initiation and secret societies from Egypt or pre-Kemetic Africa where everything originated.
After discovering how little of its own ideology Masonry put into PRACTICE(brotherly love, relief and truth) I was extremely dissappointed because I found many older masons paid lip service to the ideals but were close- minded intolerant bigots in actuality...I saw someone on here had wrote, "love isn't what you do, it's what you are" and that struck a chord in me. I also like Ghandi's quote, " BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE IN THE WORLD" Instead of giving up on masonry I began to explore Prince Hall Masonry and plan on attending my first lodge meeting here in SF in about a week...the question I have is...what is the 15%'s ideas on Prince Hall Masonry?

thanks samurai...don't know if this is on topic but I explored some connections between freemasonry, rastafarai and gnostic christianity when I kept hearing "masonic" sayings and concepts in the roots music I like...if anyone is interested it follows as below:

I definitely believe in magic and fairy tales...to some extent every fantastic story, fairy tale and nursery rhyme we've ever heard is true is some sense...whoever wrote them had to get the idea from somewhere, part of our collective unconscious, the veiled connections and shared ancient memories we all contain...I think magic is just the manifestation of ideas and will into physical reality...anybody with a shopping list is familar with a low grade of magic...you desire honey and bread, so your body is the vehicle to transform that desire into reality...On a larger scale, our long term plans and dreams (college, marriage, children) are better examples of magic...will manifesting into reality through effort and ritual...I've been trying to think of how to put the connection I see between rastafarianism, rosicrucianism, freemasonry and the original gnostic christians into words...so here goes...I think modern Freemasonry arose as a resistance to the Inquisition...the intolerance of the Catholic church for heretics, other forms of Christianity, science and any dissent was as dark a period as any in history...modern freemasonry based upon tolerance and universal brotherhood arose during the inquisition as a opposing and balancing force...the secret of freemasonry is the same as the ancient secret of gnostic christianity, the Knights Templar, the Rosicrucians, and later the Ordo Templi Orientis under Aleister Crowley...this secret has lately become sanitized and popualrized in Dan Brown's "The Davinci Code"...The theory runs that Jesus was flesh and blood, a man, who was not chaste as the church would have us believe, but in fact married to Mary Magdalene and the father of children with her (a bloodline known as the Merovignians)...the holy grail was not a chalice at all but the holy bloodline of christ which survives to this day under the protection of another secret society called the Priory of Scion...that was as far as "The Davinci Code" took it...lately I stumbled across something that takes the story further...some say Jesus and Mary practiced sex magic rituals which were the source of the power behind the many miraculous workings...they say it was Mary who actually initiated Jesus into a sex magic order descended from ancient egyptian rituals...Jesus would base his own myth upon the myth of Osiris, the dead and risen god, that he actually had himself crucified to experience near physical death and actually live out the myth of Osiris, resurrected through Mary in his children...so the secret is sex and ritualized sex magic...the uniting of opposites..the word rosicrucian means roughly, rosy cross...rose=vagina and cross=penis... when combined in sexual union communion with the divine can be achieved...actual gnosis...or direct experience of god. So the great secret of all these orders is...that the holy grail, the sacrament of Jesus Christ himself was the comingled sexual secretions of man and woman mixed together and consumed...Freemasonry performs charitable works in the name of "The Widow's Son"...the widow is Mary and the son is both the resurrected spirit of Christ and the actual bloodline of Jesus and Mary (the Merogvignians)...Freemasonry's most guarded secret is that they are the descendants of the original gnostic christians followers of Christ before a church was ever created to pervert, distort and glaze over the teachings of Christ they didn't like...Jesus himself cautions against this in the Gospels of Christ that were discovered in the dead sea scolls..."search not for me in buildings of wood and stone." I would venture to guess 95% of Freemasons either are unaware of or don't believe this connection and just enjoy the fraternal aspects of the organization or the good works they do....Many of the concepts and ideas expressed in rastafarian lyrics reflect the same ideals of tolerance and universal brotherhood that make up the foundation of freemasonry and gnostic christianity...I and I (never me and you, no distinction between individual beings, instead conceptualizing that we are all just different expressions of one supreme force/energy/being...different vessels of the divine love)...Rastafarians always refer to Jesus as the "son of man" for obvious reasons...they warn against a Babylon system of oppressive and misguided authority...which would be the organized religion which tells the poor to suffer in this world while waiting to reap the rewards in the next...as bob marley sang,

To build on the connection between the lyrics above and Freemasonry...consider this from Robert Anton Wilson's "The Widow's Son"...Wilson is either quoting from a defense of freemasonry by a priest named Henri Benoit around 1797 or he wrote a beautiful summary of the purpose of speculative masonry..."Every Christian, of every sect, prays in church on Sunday, "Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, ON EARTH as it is in heaven." Not one in a thousand stops to think what these words mean; not one in ten thousand dares to imagine that they could mean exactly what they say...Speculative Masonry is the coherent will of all those committed to the Great Work of achieving the meaning of the Lord's Prayer, so that the mind of the Great Architect of the Universe will be manifest, not only in the marvelous harmony of the stars at night but in the daily lives of men and women everywhere- on earth as it is in heaven."


Another connection between masonry and rastafariansim is the cornerstone concept...
In the gospel according to Mary Magdalene,..."Peter asks Jesus "Who sent thee?"...Jesus answers, "The cornerstone that the builders rejected is the place from which I came."

this is significant in the master mark degree of masonry...

"Free"masonry is based on the original(Black) esoetric Knowledge. Freemasonry is one arm of the Octupus that is the Occult. The Occult itself, just like freemasonry is based on a skewed version of the True esoetric Knowledge. The original Knowledge was not the secret that Lucifer is God, the final revelation in any occult society. The "Free" was added to Masonry to reflect liberty, i.e. Lucifer.

Original Masonry in an esoetric sense was applied Mathamatics and Science to reflect, show and prove the existence of the True Nature of God through building structures, which in turn emmanates deep spiritual significance into to the society. Structures are aligned according to certain star systems, this reflects the microcosm of God in a universal sense.

After the fall of Khemet under the Ram(Alexander/Greece).

Freemasons/Occult adopted/stole the Pyramid, the obelisk and the Knowledge they represented etc, etc.... One problem... They could only build based on Knowledge that already existed, so they attempted to destroy the source and alter it in a way as to be the author, this is another final revelation of the occult. The world that exist today is based on a twisted version of the original. It is not based in Truth, because they did not have (nor could they acquire) the Wisdom to apply the Knowledge nor the means to Understand it. That is to say God did not reveal all His secrets. In His Infinite Wisdom He hid Himself and the mysteries to the Foundations of the Earth knowing that a House divided amongst itself shall not stand. God sent prophets to testify to those with ears and eyes, and prophecies are parables, and filled with hidden (coded) meanings so that Gods enemies cannot decipher. If you know the Truth when you hear it then that is a good thing.

The Knights Templar, Freemasons, Rosacrucians, Golden Dawn, Gnostics, Theosophy, Catholicism, etc, etc.. is all part of the same Tree that bears bad fruit becuase the the root is rotten. They should be examined only because much Truth can be gleaned from them and We should know them, and confirm.

I wear the compass and square not to show affinity with Freemasons inwardly but to affirm and confirm the Knowledge of the original. Take not, oaths to Mankind, place no one above Me.

My grandfather (on my white side of the family) was of the 32nd degree of the Scottish and York Rites.

Did you get beyond the Blue degrees? They are meant to confuse you, most masons dont go beyond the Blue degrees.

The apparent connection between Rastafarianism and the occult groups you named are because, as I stated above, the occult Knowledge is based on the Original Knowledge with fatal flaws/twists/changes; Rastas are students of the Original Knowledge and therein lies the connection.

The NOI is very strict, you cannot drink, smoke, or do drugs, your hair must be short and clean cut. Diet and dress are is strict as well. I did not join on account of not wanting to cut off my dreads and give up ganja.

The Bob Marley song quote (He wrote the song based on quotes from Jesus about the Cornertsone/Keystone) is implying that the Black Man is the Conerstone and that the builders of this world need the stone for the foundation to be solid, but the conerstone will be refused. Thus this world is coming to an end because the builders of this world will not choose,acknowledge the Stone that is the Truth, because the world they have built goes against the very Truth that is the key.

Original Masonry or Knowledge based in Truth is inherently good.

thanks for shining some light on I...in freemasonry one major current is the loss of the secret "mason" word...supposedly the ineffable name of god. This seems to be in line with what you said (and I agree) about the origins of freemasonry and the occult. Lots of accumulated knowledge without the wisdom to apply it properly?

My half brother(mexican & black) passed me the Metu Neter when I first started showing an interest in the occult...he also cautioned me aginst taking oathes of secrecy...now I see why...do you see Ausar Auset or any group as having a legitimite connection to the original Kemetic tradtions?

What about the Prince Hall masons? What do you think is stopping them from reappropriating the original Kemtic esoteric teachings? Since they already are not recognized by "white" masonry one would think that they wouldn't have anything to lose by returning to their roots in the wisdom of Kemet.

I am not a Mason...I have been attending a lodge here in SF for the past year and a half and keep hitting roadblocks to entry(maybe for my own good?)...First I had to wait 6 months to have lived in Cali for a year...then I got into a heated political/religious debate with an elder brother, we were preparing dinner when he said something about how "we need to nuke the middle east and every vicious islamist in it"...I told him that didn't seem to in line with brotherhood of all men, tolerance of all faiths and understanding the nature of our shared and universal divinity. Needless to say, 6 months of ass kissing went out the window in one night...The elder bro withdrew his signature from my app and told me he didn't want me in the lodge...He also said my two marijuana arrests indicated a pattern of irresponsible behavior...I wanted to launch into a diatribe about man creating laws against plants or quote some scripture but I held my tongue until he asked me the last time I smoked weed...I considered my options rapidly and decided honesty is always the best policy...I STAY HIGH ALL THE TIME was my reply. Anyways, I took a month off to let tempers cool and then came back and apologized for bringing my politics into lodge but not for thinking the way I do...I resubmitted my app about a month ago and the same guy who withdrew his signature raised a private objection. I began to look into other lodges but unfortunatley the one I have been attending is by far the youngest and most open minded in SF...so I began to wonder if Prince Hall masons were any different and called around until I found a PH lodge nearby me...I plan on going to a lodge meeting Feb 2 to after speaking to their secretary who said he thought it would be best if he didn't mention my paleskin until I arrived. It is fruit from the same tree. The context within which Prince Hall masonry is examined is the same. The black "masons" established within masonry as it existed in their time which is the same of today. They share a common reward (personal gratification, percieved exoneration and material gain) and bond.

When blacks sought to become masons they did not connect the dots as we have. They sought to join the order that existed not questioning the origin or foundation. Most were seeking acceptance in this world, a sanctuary from racism, but freemasonry is inherently racist when the source of Knowledge is examined and is greatly responsible for covertly and overtly building a world based on racism and falsehoods. They even designed cities (London,D.C, Paris, Buenos Aires and others) based on their percieved masonic beliefs, they erected monuments and structures seen in Khemet. The Lincoln memorial is a copy of the Temple of Luxor. The Washington Monument is an obelisk, the numerology and mathamatics is applied in the architecture and layout. etc..

It is much like the swastika, a native symbol meant to show the Natural Order but the occult adopted the symbol and reversed it. This has been applied on a broader sense.

After doing the knowledge and reflecting on what Univ7 had to say on here and Tamahu on another board...I have terminated my association with freemasonry...I was seeking in Freemasonry what I had already found in myself...an overstanding of and actions concordant with the knoweledge of the universal brotherrhood of mankind. Freemasonry in the US maintains separate bodies for black and white masons...a dark skinned man could become a "regular" mason in most places as a light skinned man could become a Prince Hall mason in many places as well. Unfortunately, this would be an exception, not the "rule" which I sought in masonry...whihc would be THE GOLDEN RULE...This is to say nothing of the exclusion of women from "regular" masonry...how can they overstand the universal aspects of our divinity without half the universe? It is clear to me that the occult mysteries masonry professes to possess are rooted in Kemetic religion. Yet, the esoteric aspects of the craft were something I had great difficulty finding anyone in the lodge to speak about or share my interest in. It's almost like after WWII & Korea... veterans who still make up the core of masonry in the US...lost touch with the libertine/luciferian ideals that bred the french and american revolutions. Masons in the lodges I visited were predominately white, middle-aged, conservative christians and usually brought to the lodge by family connection. The tolerance of all religious and political viewpoints is well preached but not practiced in my experience. So for one seeking to practice universal brotherhood instead of just paying it lip service, I was continually dissappointed by the petty political squabbles played out in masonry like any other human institution.

Paying for initiation, paying for promotion through a series of sucessive degrees has more similarities to Scientology than I care to admit...I also can't agree with a code of silence in the internet age...information wants to be free...and I want to be free to discuss all my experiences with anyone, I choose especially my fiancee and brother.
