Some viewers passing thru this forum - and other concious forums - may notice a strong emphasis on WuTangClan.
I ask that our master builders explain why there is such regard placed on WuTang and why so much respect is held for them. Myself included... as I am, admittedly, somewhat uninformed.

that is a tough question to answer
i will try to answer it soon unless somebody else can
to a certain degree i owe everything to wu-tang
to summarize briefly, they are divine messengers of allah
on top of which they have some nice beats
hopefully the upcoming WU-TANG MANUAL book will illustrate just how deep wu-tang is

PEACE M: If you have yet to do the knowledge on the legacy that is WU-TANG, then you are indeed missing something special, to say the least, especially as far as HIP-HOP itself is concerned. What is now known as the WU-TANG CLAN originated from the minds of the 3 original and oldest members: *RZA *GZA *ODB These 3 men are blood cousins, and in the earlier, "PRE-WU" days, they were collectively known as "ALL IN 2-GETHER NOW". They never produced any work under that name, but 2 of the members went on to have record deals, under then name PRINCE RAKEEM and THE GENIUS respectively (who knows what ODB was doing....  ). After those deals fell through, the 3 decided to regroup, this time bringing an elite cadre of MC's, who were like-minded in various other disciplines, to form the CLAN. With avant-garde lyrics, touching subjects ranging from politics, spirituality, sex, drugs, violence, relationships, science fiction, and the overall essence of HIP-HOP, all under the auspices of the theme of MARTIAL ARTS (both combative as well as esoteric), this CLAN, unofficially known as "THE 9 GENERALS", took HIP-HOP by storm...... They did things in HIP-HOP that few had done before (or at least, had gotten away with): The restructured the process of how HIP-HOP artists negotiated contracts for themselves......They were amongst the few in the industry that opened their own labels (WU-TANG RECORDS, 36 RECORDS, DIGITAL RECORDINGS) and widely recognized recording studio (36 CHAMBERS). From that, the CLAN become a DYNASTY........From the original 9, spawned over 100 MC's, producers and others--men, women, and children--either officially or unofficially affiliated with the CLAN. Groups like SUNZ OF MAN, GRAVEDIGGAZ, KILLAH ARMY, BROOKLYN ZU (my personal fave), ROYAL FAM, CREAM TEAM, GP WU, DEADLY VENOMZ, BLACK KNIGHTS OF THE NORTH STAR, BEGGAZ, SOUL KID KLIK and several others carry the WU legacy, with each group's mission and theme being specialized in an aspect of the overall WU-TANG school of thought. All of this, while seeking to maintain the "purity" (raw, underground sound) of HIP-HOP, that has become so watered-down and polluted over the past decade. WU-TANG has done it like no other entity in HIP-HOP has or can. The beauty about the WU, is that for the most part, they are truly a "CLAN", in that more than half the members are of blood relation. Even many of the children of the CLAN members are being trained in the fine sword skills (re: rap style) of the WU, to carry on the WU legacy in their predecessors' absence. I could go on and on about WU-TANG, as I myself, for positive and negative, will be a supporter of the WU till my last breath.........But as I said previously, to not have been touched by the WU legacy, is like never having known that the KEMAU built the pyramids. WU-TANG are more than just HIP-HOP MC's.....They are urban heroes. PEACE |

Hotep That's why you all need to do the knowlege HERE (check my link in the first post of that thread)!! WTCORP has been "dead" for months now.........That's why it's all about CHAMBERMUSIK now. CHAMBERMUSIK puts the music back into the fans' hands, directly via the artists. Also, CHAMBERMUSIK has some big things going on, with a radio show already in progress (LIVE 365; CHAMBERMUSIK). I'm also a moderator on the CHAMBERMUSIK site. ;D |
