Peace
Sorry, I had company come bye in the middle of my post and accidently posted without the text...
I was gonna say
I had a conversation with a fellow and he was talking about gospel, televangical type music. I told him its garbage. Hip Hop is the real gospel music. I had a long post about the spirituality of Hip Hop but I lost it and dont wanna re-write. Anyways, I believe it to be True that no other "modern" music makes such comparable serious inquiries into God. Thoughts?

Hip-hop is the real gospel. I've been contemplating that for a while. I'd say that it depends on the purpose. Sometimes simple shit can make you think about complex issues. However, you cannot EXPLORE those issues in simple music. On the other hand, if someone else is leading you through things, where does your thought come in? However, thats not really addressing gospel. Just any simpler form of music would be under that. As far as gospel goes, gospel music is dogma. Simple as that. Its either worship, or repetitive dogma designed to strengthen your faith. So basically, hip hop deals with an artists interpertation or exploration, simpler (lyrically) forms of musical expressions strive more to mae you think, and gospel is designed for more faith and/or worship and less though. They all have their places as part of your religious (or whatever) experience IMO.

do doubt... hip hop is one of the most spiritual musics out there... reggae as well... but i think hip hop is more in tune w/ the whole micro-macro of individuals/the globe attempting to come to a more unified spiritual understanding... just look how hip hop has spread across the globe.... it's speakin to the soul

I agree to every statement made here.
I think the only other music form that comes close in both intent and content, is REGGAE.

DEEP HOUSE MUSIC, and the CLASSIC'S that are often infused with it, (from the late 70's, & 80's) is also very spiritual BLACK MUSIC.
