Anyone know about grime music from London? Here's a good photo documentary with background info on how this music has arisen. It takes a brief look at ghetto life in London; todayspictures.slate.com/inmotion/simon/

I like the grime...although it's a little blurry whats what with garage, trip-hop, drum n bass, jungle, bastard pop & a few other genre-bending sounds
I'm thinking Dizzee Rascal, M.I.A., Sway...running out of names
Hit me up with some more people to check out with similar sounds

Peace bro
the ting with Grime is that its whole energy is in the pirate radio scene and in the dances, on an artist level it hasnt really worked other than Dizzee.
M.I.A and Sway have come about through the 'urban' music genre opening up in this country, it means that artists from an urban background can mix loads of styles together and get away with more craziness.
But I know Mr JG that you're deeper than this so let me drop some names of Uk artists that will do more for your mentals;
Roots Manuva, Gamma, New Flesh (all on Big Dada Recordings). Im thinkin about makin some of these tracks available for download, I've also got sets from pirate radio if you're interested.
Uk music's exciting coz there's not too many constraints on it at the moment. The Grime ting in its true state is far too raw to package to the general public and plus Americans just dont get Uk slang so there's no chance of it gettin too big over there.
Anyway Im ranting, definitely let me know if you're interested though, I'll sort u out no problem.
