Peace & Blessings,
This short dissertation of mine was posted on the old Cradle, however, since we have new members here I will re-post it (with an addition of “The Functions Of Qi”). Moreover, I have some questions regarding the subject matter as pertains to RA and the Metu Neter (Shah, where you at, Lord?).
Quantum physics and Western science seem to acknowledge the presence of some form of Bio-Electromagnetic Energy. Is this energy Qi? What is Qi? Concisely, Qi (or Chi) is the life-force pervading the universe and all living beings. Qi is the basic substance by which all movements and mutations of all phenomena in the universe arise. Qi is the active state of the undifferentiated energy from whence all things, living and non-living, originate. Qi has many names and has been acknowledged and intricately recorded by many cultures. It is known as Qi in the Chinese tradition, Ki in the Japanese, Kundalini in the Dravidian, Ra in the Kemetian (Egyptian), Prana in Indian and it seems as it might be known as Bio-Electromagnetic Energy (or perhaps merely energy?) in the Western tradition.
It also seems that what we contemporarily call matter is in actuality a state of constant vibration of bundles of energy which have taken on the appearance of physical solidity. This ‘energy’ that accounts for the creation of life is called Qi. It is the manifested, out of the void of undifferentiated consciousness (God, Tai Chi, Nu etc), force that animates the physical universe we currently live in. From this most fundamental substance comes everything. Chi is all that we see as it incessantly takes on many forms, from the subtlety of energy to the solidity of the physical body to the entire material universe. Without this energy, all physicality would exist as baseless, inanimate shells. Qi is that which fuels these tangible “shells”, it makes them move, see, communicate, perceive and live. Metaphorically, it can be seen as the battery to an electrical device. Without the batteries, the device is non-functional. Chi is the “battery” of the universe. In one form, we call it a tree, in another we call it a rock and in yet another we might call it the human body.
Distinguishable from other living things is the human body. Qi is the subtle life-force energy that flows through many energy pathways (called Meridians and Nadis in China and India, respectively) and systematically fuels and influences the body and mind – keeping the body animated. Ultimately, it crystallizes into gross matter (physical body) creating the illusion of separation. Such is truly not the case. We are spiritually connected to this inexhaustible Energy-Source, all the time. Otherwise we would be non-living or simply dead.
Like stated previously, Qi is manifested in various densities reaching from the subtlest energy to gross physical matter. Qi is a quality that resides everywhere and in everything. It cannot be quantified; it is inexhaustible for it comes from the Omniscient, Omnipotent and Omnipresent.
Qi was theorized by the ancients and was heavily incorporated into their spiritual lives. Its knowledge influenced many aspects of their everyday activities. As a matter of fact, their lives were largely based upon its existence. They knew of it through the experience of its activity, rather then through its physical perception. Meditation is the science of its manipulation as it has an impact upon our physical, mental and spiritual well-being.
The study of Qi is becoming increasingly popular in the modern world. Could it be that its acknowledgment might lead to a revolutionary approach to existence, life and health?
Chi is the universal life-force which animates all things in the universe. Without Chi, life would be non-functional and empty. As such, Chi’s prime function is to give and fuel life. It is the chief factor behind the enactment and animation of all things. Furthermore, the functions of Chi may be broken down into different groups: Impulsing/Activating, Warming, Defending, Controlling and Transforming.
Impulsing or Activating refers to the highly active state of Chi. All life owns its growth and development to this state of Chi. Manifestation of the activation of Chi encompasses the growth and development of the body, all physiologic activity and metabolism. It is Chi that maintains and sustains all life processes, in all things. Warming, self-explanatorily, refers to the maintenance of appropriate body heat. Moreover, the temperature of the human body and the ability of the organs and tissues to perform their functional activates are dependent upon the warming actions of Chi. Defending refers to the protection against pathogenic factors. Chi is the defense of the body and prevents evil influences from entering. When disease occurs, this Chi becomes active, fighting to destroy the evils (pathogens) and restore the body to health. Controlling refers to the organizing factor of the body and body fluids. Chi ensures and maintains all the organs in place. For example, the blood stays in the vessels just as well as the urine, lymph etc. Transforming refers to the transformative action of Chi. Metabolism of Chi, blood and body fluids is included in this category. This transformative action ensures the formation of blood and fluids as well as distribution (blood, lymph) and conversion of fluids in the body (sweat, urine).
In Peace,
I-Son

QI
--In modern physics, mass is no longer associated with a material substance, and hence particles are not seen as consisting of any basic ‘stuff’ but as bundles of energy--

--All matter is an expression of the crystallized light and energy of the Creator, which is Itself pure Consciousness—
