A History of the Kabbalah
"Kabbalah" means "received teachings" or simply "traditions" and is derived from the Hebrew "kabel" which means "to receive." It originally applied only to the Oral Law "received" after the destruction of the Second Temple, in the form of the Talmud. However, in the twelfth century the term "kabbalah" was also used to denote various mystical teachings that began to be "received" by the Jewish communities of that day. This second set of "received" teachings is the Kabbalah proper. Though it was fully developed in the Middle Ages, the first seeds of a mystical trend began to emerge in the talmudic literature, written well after the destruction of the Second Temple—from 150 A.D. to 600 A.D.
The Hekhalot Literature
The earliest mystical texts of Judaism are contained in the Hekhalot (heavenly places) literature which are collections of fragmentary midrashim—rabbinic writings of the Talmudic period. They center on mystical interpretations of certain biblical passages.
For example, while commenting on the chariot described in Ezekiel 1, Ishmael ben Elijah1 describes his ecstatic ascent into the heavenly places where he beholds the divine chariot, the heavenly places and the throne on which God is seated as well as his visions of the divine palaces and his personal experience of the Divine presence. The Hekhalot literature sets the scene for further "heavenly exploration."
Sepher Yetzirah
Another important mystical text, developed between the third and six centuries a.d. is the Sepher Yetzirah or the "Book of Creation." This canonical text for the later kabbalistic movement sought to explain the workings and the origin of the universe. It described the sefirot or "emanations," the ten so-called "manifestations of God." Knowledge of these mysteries was thought to confer magical powers on the initiated.
Neoplatonism and Gnosticism
Sepher Yetzirah was influenced heavily by neoplatonsim, a late Greek philosophical school that combined elements of Plato with Oriental belief systems. Plato believed that our physical world is not the primary place of existence. He posited a "higher" world where the true forms exist. Our world is, he thought, only a mirror of the true world "above." Sefer Yetzirah placed these ideas into a Jewish framework. The work was back-dated and its authorship ascribed (in typical Kabbalistic fashion) to an authoritative Jewish figure, in this case Abraham.
Gnosticism, another mystical trend of the time also influenced the Kabbalists. Gershon Sholem, one of the great modern scholars in the development of the Kabbalah defines gnosticism as "the possession of knowledge that cannot be obtained by ordinary intellectual means; the possession of a secret doctrine concerning the order of the celestial worlds and the means that provide access to it."2
Gnosticism puffed-up the place of the individual and emphasized that he or she must gain secret knowledge and develop personal power in order to discover the road to self-enlightenment. Although the Kabbalah never removed its adherents from the community-at-large, as other gnostic sects did, Kabbalists latched onto the personal-experiential appeal of gnosticism and grafted the idea into the Jewish context.
And so it can be seen that "from the Talmudic period forward, Jews cultivated profoundly rich and highly diverse forms of mysticism."3 With the rise of Islam and the consequent persecutions of the Jews, the religious center of the Jewish people shifted from Babylon to locations in Europe, specifically to Italy, Germany, Spain and France.
It was in twelfth and thirteenth century France and Spain that the Kabbalah finally came into its definitive expression. In his article on kabbalistic texts, scholar Lawrence Fine defines the term "Kabbalah" as "a specific historical movement which originated in the second half of the twelfth century in that area of southern France known as Provence, and in northern Spain in the thirteenth century."4
The Bahir
It was the appearance of The Book Bahir at that time, that signaled the first classical statement of kabbalistic beliefs and ideology.
"The Book Bahir, whose few pages seem to contain so much that is pertinent to the mystery of the origin of the Kabbalah, has the form of a midrash, namely, a collection of sayings or very brief homiletical expositions of biblical verses."5 The title "Bahir" means "bright" and is taken from Job 37:21 which is the first biblical text cited. The authorship of The Bahir was attributed to Rabbi Nehunya ben ha-Kanah, a talmudic sage of the first century.6
The Bahir caused division within the Jewish community of France, with some hailing it as a brilliant text from times of yore, whilst others, like Meir ben Simon, a contemporary of the early French Kabbalists, decrying the book as heretical.7 The adherents to the Kabbalistic movement in France and Spain wrote, some two-hundred years after the publication of The Book Bahir that towards the middle of the thirteenth century the prophet Elijah appeared in visions to some of the leading men of Provence and that he had inspired them to write The Bahir. The historical evidence strongly suggests that the book was written in France during this time.
The Bahir soon became another canonical text for further kabbalistic studies and was accepted by many as being a work of much earlier date. The "Kabbalah" or received mystical traditions, were being penned, back-dated and received simultaneously! In fact, the precise move that had been made by the rabbis of the Talmud in order to validate their work as hailing from Mt. Sinai, was now repeated by the Kabbalists of France in order to authenticate their "new-found" teachings as given by the venerated rabbis of the Talmud.
These men, who were grappling to reformulate Judaism after the destruction of the Temple, are construed by the Kabbalists as mystical genies who promulgated the mystical secrets of Judaism. Lawrence Fine remarks that The Bahir represent the "emergence of a striking set of Gnostic motifs within the heart of rabbinic Judaism."8
The Zohar
The Zohar (Book of Splendor) appeared on the kabbalistic scene around 1250 a.d. Lawrence Fine describes how Moses de Leon "began circulating manuscripts which he had written, but which he claimed were ancient midrashim 'interpretations of biblical texts.'" Moses pretended merely to be copying from a manuscript which, he argued, "had originated in the circle of the second-century Palestinian rabbi, Shimon bar Yohai, but had only recently found its way into Spain. In all likelihood, de Leon opted to write in this pseudepigraphic way out of the conviction that a work of antiquity would be more readily considered to be authoritative truth."9 History has it that one Isaac ben Shmuel, who later became a leading 14th century Kabbalist, arrived in Spain after fleeing Mamluk's attack on the land of Israel. In his diary (Sefer Ha Yamim) we read that he was amazed to hear about the newly "discovered" manuscript of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yohai.
"The book had supposedly been written in Israel, but Isaac was from Israel and had never heard of it!"10 Isaac's diary informs us that he went to see Moses de Leon at his home, only to learn that he had died. His widow greeted Isaac at the door and in response to his request to see the original parchment of Shimon Bar Yohai, she informed him that the document had never existed but that the Zohar had been written solely out of her husband's head.
However, the effort to back-date a kabbalistic text again succeeded. Despite early warnings regarding the errors of the Zohar the book soon became acknowledged as the mystical revelations of the great sage Shimon bar Yohai. In the text, Shimon is pictured in various settings discoursing with his pupils at every opportunity on the great matters of mystical inquiry. The language of the text is Aramaic, "contrived, replete with medieval usages, in grammar, syntax, vocabulary and ideas."11 "Behind the veil of the Aramaic, the Hebrew of the medieval era can be clearly detected."12 The only Aramaic which Moses de Leon knew was that which he had learned from his talmudic studies. And so it was that one of the most important books of the Kabbalah came into being. (cont)

The Safed Period The expulsion of the Jews from Spain in 1492 caused a rupture in the Jewish world. The defeat of the Mamluks and the conquest of the land of Israel by the Ottomans afforded the Jewish refugees from Europe an unexpected safe-haven in the Holy Land itself. No longer under hostile Islamic dominion, a new center of Jewish learning sprang up. Safed was a thriving agricultural and commercial town situated in the Galilean hills about 20 miles north of the Sea of Galilee. Not only that, Safed was the burial place of a number of rabbis of the Talmudic period. In fact, a little outside the town lay the resting place of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yohai, the supposed author of the Book of Splendor-the Zohar. It was in Safed that the Zohar gained its kabbalistic preeminence. From there Moses Cordovero would compose his lengthy commentaries on what had become the central kabbalistic text. It was also from Safed that Rabbi Isaac Luria would develop his "redemptive" brand of kabbalistic philosophy. The climate of political upheaval and the massive forced removals of the Jewish people had given rise to speculation that the world was in the midst of the "birth-pangs" of the Messiah. Luria was hard-pressed to explain the terrible state of exile that characterized the Jewish people. He expanded the kabbalistic doctrine of the exile of the Shechinah (or Divine Presence) into a mystical theology of redemption and promoted a rationale for the performance of good deeds which was designed to hasten and even produce the coming of the Messiah. Lurianic Kabbalah would ultimately give rise to Sabbatianism, the messianic movement of the seventeenth century that proclaimed Shabbetai Zevi as King Messiah and in so doing, led Jewry into despondency for decades. Lurianic Kabbalah would also, through the popular mystical Chassidic movement, exert a strong influence on the future thinking of Judaism. Modern Judaism and its raison d'être is heavily grounded in the Lurianic notion that the Jewish people exist in order to prepare the world for the arrival of the Messiah. www.jfjonline.org/pub/issues/12-02/historykabbalah.htm

WHY WE MUST NOT FOLLOW JEWISH TRADITION
JEWISH - OF OR RELATING TO JEWS, / OF JUDAISM
TRADITION -A CUSTOM, OPINION OR BELIEF HANDED DOWN TO POSTERITY ESP. ORALLY OR BY PRACTICE.
JUDAISM - THE RELIGION OF THE JEWS, / THE JEWS COLLECTIVELY.
THE ABOVE DEFINITIONS ARE FROM THE ILLUSTRATED OXFORD DICTIONARY.
As you should know by now, the people who are known as Ashkenazi Jews are not true descendants of the ancient Israelites. They are descendant from a people known in history as the Khazars. (Be sure to read the Edom and Khazars page). The majority of Jews living in Europe, Russia, Israel and the United States are secular (don't believe in a Elohim). The ones who are religious or have a belief in a god, practice what they call JUDAISM. As you can see from the definitions above, Judaism is the religion of the Jews, it is also a nickname for Jewish culture.
When Yah the Most High gave the laws to Moses (Moshe) on Mt. Sinai, he never once mention anything about Judaism. Judaism is not of Yah, it is the creation of men who are inspired by Satan.
As Israelites our main goal is to return back to Yah our father, with all our soul, mind and heart. The only way Israel can return, is to follow the only true path Yah has laid down for us. If we take any other route then we are still on the path to destruction.
Over the years in my Israelite Journey, often I come across Israelites who are new students to the truth. Many of these brothers and sisters believe that we are to copy everything Jewish, they believe we are suppose to practice Judaism, wear the six pointed star, etc I don't blame them for their ignorance (Not Knowing), but after you have learned the truth, you must do better.
In my walk with Yah, I have learned to stay away and do away with all things that are Jewish, and Christian for that matter. Not because they are Jewish (alone) but because it is not from Yah, and it can cause confusion, which leads to destruction.
Before any hater of the truth reads this and try to make it seem as if I'm a racist. I'm not, this subject is scriptural, all scriptures are from Yah, if you have a problem with this, take it up with the Master.
This page will explain why we as Israelites must not follow Jewish tradition. It's real simple, Jewish tradition is not from Yah the father. I will point out a few of the traditions that Israelites fall into, believing they are doing right.
THE TALMUD VS THE SCRIPTURES AND THE LAW
TALMUD - The Body of Jewish Civil and ceremonial law and legend comprising the Mishnah and the Germra.
The Talmud is one of the "holy" books of Judaism. This book is held higher than scriptures in some forms of Judaism, this is stated in the Talmud.
Erubin 21b (Soncino edition): "My son, be more careful in the observance of the words of the Scribes than in the words of the Torah (Old Testament).".
The Talmud is a collection of rabbinic writings. Jews say these writing are the oral law of Israel, everything Moses didn't write down on Mt. Sinai is said to be in the Talmud. Example: How to properly slaughter animals etc.
That's strange because no where in the 66 books of scripture or the books that were removed (Book of Jasher, Enoch, Pseudopigrapha, Apgrophara). Do we see any mention of a Talmud or oral law. Oral law is another name the Jews use for Talmud. The Laws Moses got from Yah was written down.
Exodus 24:12 And YAH said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee tables of stone, and a law, and commandments which I have written; that thou mayest teach them.
31:18 And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, two tables of testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of YAH..
32:15 And Moses turned, and went down from the mount, and the two tables of the testimony were in his hand: the tables were written on both their sides; on the one side and on the other were they written.
There is no mention of a Oral law being given to Moses. Another Point, If the Talmud represents the oral law that was given to Moses how did it survive this long being that the Israelites had forgotten about the WRITTEN LAW.
2nd Kings 22:8 And Hilkiah the high priest said unto Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of YAH. And Hilkiah gave the book to Shaphan, and he read it.
2nd Chronicles 34:15 And Hilkiah answered and said to Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of YAH. And Hilkiah delivered the book to Shaphan.
21 Go, inquire of YAH for me, and for them that are left in Israel and in Judah, concerning the words of the book that is found: for great is the wrath of the YAH that is poured out upon us, because our fathers have not kept the word of YAH, to do after all that is written in this book.
24 Thus saith YAH, Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof, even all the curses that are written in the book which they have read before the king of Judah:
The Talmud or Oral law, should not be adhered to by Hebrew Israelites, that book is a fraud, it is not of Yah or from Yah. The Talmud was created sometime in the 2nd - 5th century C.E. (common Era). It is not from our ancient forefather, they had no knowledge of a Talmud they only knew of the Torah (laws, instructions) and Scriptures.
Proof being the Ethiopian Hebrews, our brethren from the tribe of Dan had no knowledge of the Talmud when they reentered Israel.
According to the N.Y. Times of Sept. 29, 1992, p.4:
"The problem is that Ethiopian Jewish tradition goes no further than the Bible or Torah; the later Talmud and other commentaries that form the basis of modern traditions never came their way."
Lets look at a few of the wicked passages from the Talmud.
Moed Kattan 17a: If a Jew is tempted to do evil he should go to a city where he is not known and do the evil there.
Penalty for Disobeying Rabbis
Erubin 21b. Whosoever disobeys the rabbis deserves death and will be punished by being boiled in hot excrement in hell.
Hitting a Jew is the same as hitting God
Sanhedrin 58b. If a heathen (gentile) hits a Jew, the gentile must be killed.
O.K. to Cheat Non-Jews
Sanhedrin 57a . A Jew need not pay a gentile ("Cuthean") the wages owed him for work.
Jews Have Superior Legal Status
Baba Kamma 37b. "If an ox of an Israelite gores an ox of a Canaanite there is no liability; but if an ox of a Canaanite gores an ox of an Israelite...the payment is to be in full."
Jews May Steal from Non-Jews
Baba Mezia 24a . If a Jew finds an object lost by a gentile ("heathen") it does not have to be returned. (Affirmed also in Baba Kamma 113b). Sanhedrin 76a. God will not spare a Jew who "marries his daughter to an old man or takes a wife for his infant son or returns a lost article to a Cuthean..."
The Talmud is where the so called racist curse of Ham started. The Talmud says black people are cursed with black skin because Noah cursed his son Kham (Ham) on the Ark. That is none scriptural, the Talmud is a book we must stay far away from,.

TANAKH VS TORAH TANAKH - JEWISH WORD THAT REFERENCE THE OLD TESTAMENT OR HEBREW SCRIPTURES. TORAH - HEBREW WORD MEANING LAW OR INSTRUCTIONS. REFERENCE TO THE FIRST FIVE BOOKS OF SCRIPTURE ALSO CALLED THE BOOKS OF MOSES. Some of you may be surprised that I am including the word Tanakh with Jewish tradition. Many Israelites use this word today instead of Old Testament. All the scriptures from Genesis to Malachi is named the Tanakh by rabbinic scholars. Tanakh is not the Hebrew word for the old testament, Tanakh is a created word, It stands for TORAH (LAW INSTRUCTIONS), NEVI'M (The Prophets) and KETHUVM (The Writings) TNK insert the vowel points and you have TANAKH. TANAKH just like Judaism and Talmud it's not mention in scriptures, the reason being they all are words created by unlearned Gentiles who call themselves Jews. I don't like the terms old testament or new testament, the book is the same, it's one continual work. The word Scripture or the word of Yah is a more accurate term in reference to Yah's truth. We shouldn't use Tanakh, for the simple reason, Yah didn't use it, Yahshuah didn't use it. Yahshuah taught from the word of Yah, when He taught the people did he ever tell them to search the Tanakh? NO he told them to search the scriptures or the word of Yah. Matthew 21:42 Yahshuah saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Yah's doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes? 22:29 Yahshuah answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God. Luke 24:45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, John 5:39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. Mark 7:13 Making the word of Yah of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye. Luke 5:1 And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of YAH, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret, Luke 8:21 And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of YAH, and do it. JUDAISM VS THE LAWS AND COMMANDMENT From the definition of Judaism at the beginning of this page, we see it's the religion of the Jews. As I have stated, Judaism is not the laws and commandments that Yah gave to Moses on Mt. Sinai. Judaism is a religion created by Jewish rabbi's for Jewish people and those who convert to the Jewish culture. Yah's laws and commandments are not a religion but a set apart way of Life. Hebrew Israelites don't practice Judaism, we adhere to Yah's Torah (Instruction, laws). EXODUS 24:12 And YAH said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee tables of stone, and a law, and commandments which I have written; that thou mayest teach them. He didn't say come and get Judaism, the Tanakh or The Talmud and teach them. No He said come and Get the Laws and commandments. There are several branches of Judaism Conservative Reform Orthodox Hasidic All these sects use the Talmud in higher esteem over the scriptures KOSHER VS CLEAN MEATS KOSHER - Of Food or premises in which food is sold, cooked or eaten fulfilling the requirements of JEWISH LAW. The law of clean and unclean meats can be found in the book of Leviticus 11:. Yah gave us meats that are clean or healthy for us to eat, this is what the term clean meats refer to. Jews have created a word that many think is the proper Hebrew term for clean meats. This word as you may know is Kosher. Kosher is not the Hebrew word for clean meats, it doesn't refer to the laws of clean and unclean meats. Kosher refers to the way the animal is slaughtered, and how to drain a majority of it's blood. They have Kosher pigs, in fact the state of Israel has one of the largest pig farms in the world. Leviticus 11:7 And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be clovenfooted, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you. 8 Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcase shall ye not touch; they are unclean to you. Any animal can be Kosher as long as it's slaughtered according to the Jewish law. Kosher comes from the Jewish Talmud, that alone should let us know we shouldn't deal with it. Just because you see Kosher on a food label does not mean that product contains 100% clean meat. All it means it that the animal used for that product was slaughter in a certain way that the rabbi's approved of. RABBI'S Hebrew Israelites shouldn't refer to ourselves as Rabbi. Matthew 23: 8 But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Messiah; and all ye are brethren. Enough said. Other Jewish traditions and culture you don't want to get involved with are:: 1. THE JEWISH CALENDAR (they began their new year in Sept, when the scriptures say the new year begins with the month of Abib which is around "March" Or "April". 2. THE 6-POINTED STAR OR SHIELD (Which ever name you refer). The 6 pointed Star is pure idolatry. It's an ancient Idol, that can be traced back to the old babylon under Nimrod. Today's witches and warlock uses this star along with the occult secret societies. Yah commanded us not to have idols, this includes the star, which has nothing to do with King David. 3. WEEKLY SHABATH READINGS, (reading the torah is good, but the Jews have almost made a commandment that you must read certain scripture approved by their rabbi each week. 4. MAKING AND WEARING FRINGES Be Careful that you are not doing this according to how the Jews do theirs, they are following the authority of the rabbi's and not Yah 5.FESTIVAL (FEAST) DAYS OBSERVANCE Stick to the script, don't look to jews for knowledge on how to keep the feast days, check the scriptures. 9 times out of 10 the Jews are observing the feast according to the Rabbinic law found in the talmud AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST CALLING YOUR SELF A JEW. This is a big NO NO. Hebrew Israelites are not Jews, we are of the house of Israel, Jews are not. Only those true Israelites who convert to Judaism and do exactly as the Jews do, wear that misnomer title JEW. The Next page will explain this in full detail, why we are not Jews. Brothers and Sisters there is only one path to Yah, following Jewish tradition and customs will not put you on that path. YOU ARE NOT JEWS OR JEWISH, YOU DO NOT FOLLOW JUDAISM. Stick to the scriptures, leave those other man made devices and doctrines alone. I will have a follow up to this page called 'WHY WE MUST NOT FOLLOW CHRISTIAN TRADITIONS, that too is just as important to know. www.hebrewisraelites.org/jewishtradition.htm

Black Hebrew Israelites amuse me. They seem to be little more than black faced Jews. The problem with religion isn't the specific teachings or commandments or whatever, but the whole destrctive mentality it encourages. Replacing actual facts with empty dogma fucks you over every time. Depending on your controller you may be lead in various directions, some beneficial, but I fail to see how subjagating yourself to another man is a positive thing. Its amazing, their shit is older and origina and this and that, BUT ITS TEH SAME THING.

What the hell are you talking about? "little more than Black faced Jews" Really? The entire (2nd) article is discussing why Black Hebrew Israelites should not follow Jewish custom or religion. So your point is lost on me. Maybe you read it wrong....
What actual facts are replaced by empty dogma? "Their shit is older and original but its the same thing" ....Really? I didnt know the older, original "shit" is the same as the new and un-original "shit"... Hell, actually what is the new and un-original "shit" your refering to? Does it have peanuts in it? also.... Subjugating to what man? I dont read anything in the post about subjugating to any man? "Depending on your controller" ? This is not a CIA Black-OP...any man who has a "controller" is obviously misled. God is master of his own Universe and has no controllers. Iam Self Lord And Master.
I am lead to believe you don't know what the hell your talking about...When you don't know what your talking about it's best to STFU. Or rather, not interject into somthing you know little or nothing about.
Understanding of God only comes through doing the Knowledge of "Religion", History, and Science and by default Mathamatics. In Wisdom it is a way of life, not a "religion", based on NATURAL LAW. You cannot search for God without entering the houses of the three monotheistic religious institutions for clues to His True Nature. The answer is spiritual not religious in nature but that aspect will not be discovered without serious evaluation of theology.
2. This Book, there is no doubt in it, is a guide to those who guard (against evil).
3. Those who believe in the unseen and keep up prayer and spend out of what We have given them.
4. And who believe in that which has been revealed to you and that which was revealed before you and they are sure of the hereafter.
5. These are on a right course from their Lord and these it is that shall be successful.
6. Surely those who disbelieve, it is the same to them whether you warn them, or do not warn them, they will not believe.
7. Allah has set a seal upon their hearts and upon their hearing and there is a covering over their eyes, and there is a great punishment for them.
8. And there are some people who say: We believe in Allah and the last day; and they are not at all believers.
9. They desire to deceive Allah and those who believe, and they deceive only themselves and they do not perceive.
10. There is a disease in their hearts, so Allah added to their disease and they shall have a painful chastisement because they tell lies.
11. And when it is said to them, Do not make mischief in the Earth, they say: We are but peace-makers.
12. Now surely they themselves are the mischief makers, but they do not perceive.
13. And when it is said to them: Believe as the people believe they say: Shall we believe as the fools believe? Now surely they themselves are the fools, but they do not know.
14. And when they meet those who believe, they say: We believe; and when they are alone with their Devils, they say: Surely we are with you, we were only mocking.
15. Allah shall pay them back their mockery, and He leaves them alone in their inordinacy, blindly wandering on.
16. These are they who buy error for the right direction, so their bargain shall bring no gain, nor are they the followers of the right direction.
17. Their parable is like the parable of one who kindled a fire but when it had illumined all around him, Allah took away their light, and left them in utter darkness-- they do not see.
18. Deaf, dumb (and) blind, so they will not turn back.

Read their fucking site. They're just giving you another remix of the same hustle. Why are the guoting bible verses? Why are they relying on ancient myths? The same ones that the Jews preach. Just another Jewish sect. They just flipped it a bit.

PARABLE n 1: a short moral story (often with animal characters) [syn: fable, allegory, apologue] 2: (New Testament) any of the stories told by Jesus to convey his religious message; "the parable of the prodigal son"
ALLEGORY
1[n] an expressive style that uses fictional characters and events to describe some subject by suggestive resemblances; an extended metaphor 2[n] a short moral story (often with animal characters) 3[n] a visible symbol representing an abstract idea
(selection of NEW International Version for simplification)
Matthew 13
(1) That same day Jesus left the house and sat by the Sea of Galilee. (2) Large crowds gathered around him. So he got into a boat. He sat down in it. All the people stood on the shore. (3) Then he told them many things by using parables. He said, "A farmer went out to plant his seed. (4) He scattered the seed on the ground. Some fell on a path. Birds came and ate it up. (5) Some seed fell on rocky places, where there wasn't much soil. The plants came up quickly, because the soil wasn't deep. (6) When the sun came up, it burned the plants. They dried up because they had no roots. (7) Other seed fell among thorns. The thorns grew up and crowded out the plants. (8) Still other seed fell on good soil. It produced a crop 100, 60 or 30 times more than what was planted. (9) Those who have ears should listen."
(10) The disciples came to him. They asked, "Why do you use parables when you speak to the people?"
(11) He replied, "You have been given the chance to understand the secrets of the kingdom of heaven. It has not been given to outsiders. (12) Everyone who has that kind of knowledge will be given more. In fact, they will have very much. If anyone doesn't have that kind of knowledge, even what little he has will be taken away from him. (13) Here is why I use stories when I speak to the people. I say, "They look, but they don't really see. They listen, but they don't really hear or understand. (14) "In them the words of the prophet Isaiah come true. He said,
" 'You will hear but never understand. You will see but never know what you are seeing. (15) The hearts of these people have become stubborn. They can barely hear with their ears. They have closed their eyes.
Otherwise they might see with their eyes. They might hear with their ears. They might understand with their hearts. They might turn to the Lord, and then he would heal them." (Isaiah 6:9,10)
(16) "But blessed are your eyes because they see. And blessed are your ears because they hear. (17) What I'm about to tell you is true. Many prophets and godly people wanted to see what you see. But they didn't see it. They wanted to hear what you hear. But they didn't hear it.
(18) "Listen! Here is the meaning of the story of the farmer. (19) People hear the message about the kingdom but do not understand it. Then the evil one comes. He steals what was planted in their hearts. Those people are like the seed planted on a path. (20) Others received the seed that fell on rocky places. They are those who hear the message and at once receive it with joy. (21) But they have no roots. So they last only a short time. They quickly fall away from the faith when trouble or suffering comes because of the message. (22) Others received the seed that fell among the thorns. They are those who hear the message. But then the worries of this life and the false promises of wealth crowd it out. They keep it from producing fruit. (23) But still others received the seed that fell on good soil. They are those who hear the message and understand it. They produce a crop 100, 60 or 30 times more than the farmer planted."

The Parable of the Weeds (24) Jesus told the crowd another story. "Here is what the kingdom of heaven is like," he said. "A man planted good seed in his field. (25) But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came. The enemy planted weeds among the wheat and then went away. (26) The wheat began to grow and form grain. At the same time, weeds appeared. (27) "The owner's servants came to him They said, 'Sir, didn't you plant good seed in your field? Then where did the weeds come from?' (28) " 'An enemy did this,' he replied. "The servants asked him, 'Do you want us to go and pull the weeds up?' (29)" 'No,' the owner answered. 'While you are pulling up the weeds, you might pull up the wheat with them. (30) Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the workers what to do. Here is what I will say to them. First collect the weeds. Tie them in bundles to be burned. Then gather the wheat. Bring it into my storeroom.' " The Parable of the Mustard Seed and the Yeast (31) Jesus told the crowd another story. He said, "The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed. Someone took the seed and planted it in a field. (32) It is the smallest of all your seeds. But when it grows, it is the largest of all garden plants. It becomes a tree. Birds come and rest in its branches." (33) Jesus told them still another story. "The kingdom of heaven is like yeast," he said. "A woman mixed it into a large amount of flour. The yeast worked its way all through the dough." (34) Jesus spoke all these things to the crowd by using parables. He did not say anything to them without telling a parable. (35) So the words spoken by the prophet came true. He had said, "I will open my mouth and tell stories. I will speak about things that were hidden since the world was made." (Psalm 78:2) Jesus Explains the Parable of the Weeds (36) Then Jesus left the crowd and went into the house. His disciples came to him. They said, "Explain to us the story of the weeds in the field." (37) He answered, "The one who planted the good seed is the Son of Man. (38) The field is the world. The good seed stands for the people who belong to the kingdom. The weeds are the people who belong to the evil one. (39)The enemy who plants them is the devil. The harvest is judgment day. And the workers are angels. (40) "The weeds are pulled up and burned in the fire. That is how it will be on judgment day. (41) The Son of Man will send out his angels. They will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin. They will also get rid of all who do evil. (42) They will throw them into the blazing furnace. There people will sob and grind their teeth. (43) Then God's people will shine like the sun in their Father's kingdom. Those who have ears should listen. (New International Version) Matthew 15 (1) Some Pharisees, teachers of the law, came from Jerusalem to see Jesus. They asked, 2"Why don't your disciples obey what the elders teach? Your disciples don't wash their hands before they eat!" (3) Jesus replied, "And why don't you obey God's command? You would rather follow your own teachings! (4) God said, 'Honor your father and mother.'(Exodus 20:12; Deuteronomy 5:16) He also said, 'If anyone calls down a curse on his father or mother, he will be put to death.'(Exodus 21:17; Leviticus 20:9) (5) But you allow people to say to their parents, 'Any help you might have received from us is a gift set apart for God.' (6) So they do not need to honor their parents with their gift. You make the word of God useless in order to follow your own teachings. (7) "You pretenders! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you. He said, (8) " 'These people honor me by what they say. But their hearts are far away from me. (9) Their worship doesn't mean anything to me. They teach nothing but human rules.' " (Isaiah 29:13) (10) Jesus called the crowd to him. He said, "Listen and understand. (11) What goes into your mouth does not make you 'unclean.' It's what comes out of your mouth that makes you 'unclean.' " (12) Then the disciples came to him. They asked, "Do you know that the Pharisees were angry when they heard this?" (13) Jesus replied, "There are plants that my Father in heaven has not planted. They will be pulled up by the roots. (14) Leave them. The Pharisees are blind guides. If a blind person leads another who is blind, both of them will fall into a pit." (15) Peter said, "Explain this parable to us." (16) "Don't you understand yet?" Jesus asked them. (17) "Don't you see? Everything that enters the mouth goes into the stomach. Then it goes out of the body. (18) But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart. Those are the things that make you 'unclean.' (19) Evil thoughts come out of the heart. So do murder, adultery, and other sexual sins. And so do stealing, false witness, and telling lies about others. (20) Those are the things that make you 'unclean.' But eating without washing your hands does not make you 'unclean.' " The Faith of a Woman From Canaan (21) Jesus left Galilee and went to the area of Tyre and Sidon. (22) A woman from Canaan lived near Tyre and Sidon. She came to him and cried out, "Lord! Son of David! Have mercy on me! A demon controls my daughter. She is suffering terribly." (23) Jesus did not say a word. So his disciples came to him. They begged him, "Send her away. She keeps crying out after us." (24) Jesus answered, "I was sent only to the people of Israel. They are like lost sheep." (25) Then the woman fell to her knees in front of him. "Lord! Help me!" she said. (26) He replied, "It is not right to take the children's bread and throw it to their dogs." (27) "Yes, Lord," she said. "But even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their owners' table." (28) Then Jesus answered, "Woman, you have great faith! You will be given what you are asking for." And her daughter was healed at that very moment. other translations bible.gospelcom.net/passage/?search=Matthew%2015%20;&version=9;
