P+E(AC)=E The Political Spectrum: chart (From Left to Right) Communism--Revolutionary(L)--Radical Left--Socialist--Liberal--Democratic--Centrist--Republican--Conservative--Neoconservative--Capitalist--Radical Right--Revolutionary(R)--Fascism If a government goes to extreme in either direction the result is the same: Total control of populations. This is intentional. Since the creation of the political spectrum after the French Revolution the politics of nations have been defined within this realm. The Political Spectrum and politics along with religion are a tool of the Globalists to arrange, manipulate and control populations. One "religion" which is not under total control by the globalists is Islam, that is why they seek to destroy nations and people that base their politic on Islam and the Qu'ran. They have not been able to completely infiltrate the "religion" although they have had some success i.e Taliban and Al' Quaeda. They use these groups to instigate a reason for attack. The war on Iraq has created legitimate nationalist resistance which should not be confused with or inter-changed with the likes of Bin Laden, Al' Quaeda etc...This is what they would have you believe. Another equally important reason for war is the Middle East's, and Caspian region's location over the last great oil reserves on Earth. see The Grand Chessboard by Zbigniew Burzynski They are engineering the next World War. It is clear that most political movements originating out of Europe were creations of the Illumnists bloodlines and their pawns in the 19th century such as, Zionism, Fascism, Communism, Capitalism, and Islamic Extremism. Communism was created atheist on purpose, whereas the far right imposes a religion as well as twists it. The blunder many make is using the so called Political Spectrum to define their "politics" in the first place, that is their intention for you. The US is intentionally being steered further and further to the right of the spectrum; in its domestic and foreign policy positions to enforce the agenda: War. The US must go to the far right (fascist) of the spectrum in order for the Illumnist globalists to gain complete control of the States, they may call in the debt to destroy the last vestiges of our economy to help push us along. When fundamental control (Martial Law/suspension of constitution and civil liberties through terrorism) is attained, they will introduce UN total control and enforce the Global Socialist model (seizure of private property) and relocating populations from cities according to UN Agenda 21 and the MAB (Man and Biosphere) program. Homeland Security's real purpose is to control the politics of citizens so that this path is not deviated from. The way people are sleeping and being put to sleep this will not change. Homeland Security is a Cabinet position appointed by the President which makes it partisan. Homeland Security (a fascist term in itself, reminiscent of Hitler) usurps many of the Legislative (citizens) and Judicial branch's powers and consolidates them under the Executive. This is also why the outcome of the democratic nomination was fixed for Kerry, and also why he thought he'd win the presidency because he knew strings were pulled to give him the nomination. The globalists had to guarantee whoever was running against the President was also part of the Agenda so that the ultimate outcome cannot be altered. i.e The citizens electing someone to the Executive branch that is not part of the Agenda and ruining their plans by pulling out of Iraq and thus canceling spreading the war on terror to Iran and diffusing World War III. They would assassinate before they allowed that to happen. It will be interesting to see who the democrats and republicans run in 08'....if there even are elections. BTW I'm registered as an Independent. Compare the below list with the sign of the times. P+E(AC)=E ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Dr. Lawrence Britt has examined the fascist regimes of Hitler (Germany), Mussolini (Italy), Franco (Spain), Suharto (Indonesia) and several Latin American regimes. Britt found 14 defining characteristics common to each: 1. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism - Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays. 2. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights - Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need." The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc. 3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause - The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial , ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc. 4. Supremacy of the Military - Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized. 5. Rampant Sexism - The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Divorce, abortion and homosexuality are suppressed and the state is represented as the ultimate guardian of the family institution. 6. Controlled Mass Media - Sometimes to media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common. 7. Obsession with National Security - Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses. 8. Religion and Government are Intertwined - Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government's policies or actions. 9. Corporate Power is Protected - The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite. 10. Labor Power is Suppressed - Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed. 11. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts - Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts and letters is openly attacked. 12. Obsession with Crime and Punishment - Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations. 13. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption - Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders. 14. Fraudulent Elections - Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections. From Liberty Forum www.rense.com/general37/char.htm

China forges free trade area AP 2004-11-30 02:29:32 VIENTIANE, LAOS -- Rising power China moved yesterday to expand its influence in a region long dominated by the United States, signing an accord with Southeast Asian countries aimed at creating the world's largest free trade area by 2010 -- a sprawling market of nearly two billion people. China's concerns about securing vital sea lanes and feeding its booming economy's ravenous appetite for oil and raw materials were seen as key motivations for the trade pact with the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations at the group's annual summit in Laos. www.canoe.ca/NewsStand/LondonFreePress/News/2004/11/30/740798.html

Pakistan ; Musharraf seeks stronger ties with Argentina Pakistan News, BUENOS AIRES- Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf sought to boost his country’s trade ties with Argentina as he arrived here on Wednesday after visiting neighboring Brazil in the first trip to Latin America by a Pakistani leader. Musharraf met with Argentine President Nestor Kirchner and later said expanding the two countries’ relatively small, 55-million-dollar trade was at the center of bilateral relations. The two leaders also released a joint statement on the reform of the UN Security Council, which they said should become more democratic. But they said that adding non-permanent members to the council was the only alternative for a successful reform of the world body. Argentina’s and Pakistan’s respective regional rivals, Brazil and India, are seeking permanent seats on the Security Council. www.keralanext.com/news/?id=72332

The Return of the Cold War By Sean-Paul Kelley, AlterNet. April 1, 2004. The battle between Georgia and its breakaway republic is being fueled by the United States' desire to control the oil-rich region. The marshy, impenetrable terrain spreads east towards the mountains and west towards the Black Sea. A bridge, little more than a thin ribbon dotted with concrete barricades, connects the Ajarian seaport of Batumi with the Georgian capital, Tbilisi. Several alert and well-armed Russian soldiers guard the checkpoint, their AK-47s on prominent display. No one is smiling. This is the "border" between Georgia and the separatist republic of Ajaria: a place where U.S. regional interests meet Russian pride head on. full article at www.alternet.org/story/18297

Ukrainian parliament urges troops withdrawal from Iraq KIEV, Jan. 11 (Xinhuanet) -- The Ukrainian parliament called on Tuesday for the withdrawal of the country's contingent of troopsfrom Iraq as soon as possible. During a live television broadcast, the parliament urged President Leonid Kuchma to issue a decree to bring the country's troops home from Iraq. On Monday, Kuchma ordered the officials to draw up plans to withdraw the country's peacekeepers from Iraq in the first half of2005 during a meeting with his defense and foreign ministers. The move came after eight Ukrainian soldiers were killed in an accidental explosion in Iraq on Sunday. Ukraine is the fourth-largest contributor of troops to the US-led coalition, with a 1,650-strong contingent serving under Polishcommand in southern Iraq. news.xinhuanet.com/english/2005-01/11/content_2446491.htmCuba resuming contacts with European countries Tuesday, January 11, 2005 - Page A12 www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/ArticleNews/TPStory/LAC/20050111/WORLDS11-3/TPInternational/BriefsYanukovych camp vows to challenge Yushchenko's Ukraine election victory www.cbc.ca/cp/world/050111/w011164.html

Countdown To World War Three Henry Makow | August 16 2004 As fighting resumes in the holy city of Najaf, more may hinge on the outcome than we realize. In a provocative article, Joe Vialls reveals that Iran and Saddam's Iraq have had a covert military alliance and began joint preparations for this war after the Gulf War ended in 1991. Iran already has nuclear capability and recently threatened to "wipe Israel off the map" if Israel attacked its nuclear facilities. Vialls says the cleric Al Sadr is tied to the Iranians. "As we shall see, if Moqtada al-Sadr is killed or maimed, we will be into an altogether new and exceedingly lethal ball game," says Vialls. joevialls.altermedia.info/iraq/carrierstrike.html As you know, a large part of the US fleet is out of port and probably near Iran. Many observers believe there will be a US attack on Iran after the US election, no matter who wins. Iran has a military alliance with Russia. freemasonrywatch.org/comrades.html These events should be seen in the perspective of a letter written by Albert Pike, the Grand Commander of American Freemasonry in 1871 and published in 1925. The letter foresaw three world wars designed to bring about Illuminati world hegemony. Each war planted the seeds of the next. For example, the Second World War was designed to ensure the destruction of Germany, the expansion of Communist Russia and the establishment of the State of Israel. It unfolded exactly as Pike described and set the stage for number three. "The Third World War must be fomented by taking advantage of the differences caused by the "agentur" of the "Illuminati" between the political Zionists and the leaders of Islamic World," Pike wrote. "Argentur" means "agent." The same term is used in another Illuminati document "/The/ /Protocols of the Elders of Zion/" which dates from the same period. The key point here is these wars are contrived. They are caused by "agentur of the Illuminati" /on both sides/. These agents owe their first loyalty to the Illuminati not to their countries. Their aim is to /destroy/ their respective countries and profit from the carnage. Pike continues: "The war must be conducted in such a way that Islam (the Moslem Arabic World) and political Zionism (the State of Israel) mutually destroy each other." The rest of the world will be drawn in. "Meanwhile the other nations, once more divided on this issue will be constrained to fight to the point of complete physical, moral, spiritual and economical exhaustion..." At this point they will be constrained to accept the Luciferian one-world government. Iran is rumored to have missiles that could reach England. I suspect China is also being built up by the illuminati to attack and destroy the USA. See "Elite Sets the Stage for World War Three" www.savethemales.ca/000154.html Pike's complete letter and more background can be found on an excellent web site "Three World Wars.com" operated by Michael Haupt of Cambridge UK. www.threeworldwars.com/albert-pike.htm Readers who object that the terms Nazism and Zionism were not known in 1871 should remember that the Illuminati /invented/ both these movements. The Illuminati refers to a tightly organized network of family dynasties representing Anglo American and European aristocracy and Jewish finance joined by intermarriage, belief in the occult, and hatred of Christianity. Freemasonry is their instrument. They care nothing for their non-Illuminati brethren, Jewish or not. They will destroy billions as they create a neo feudal world characterized by superrich, soldiers and serfs. "TAKING SIDES" The Iraq war and a possible larger conflagration with Iran are a trap engineered by the Illuminati to destroy /both/ the Moslem world and Israel, and possibly the U.S. Thus the real enemy is not Israel, America or Islam who are being manipulated. The real enemy is the Illuminati and their agents, bent on destroying and enslaving mankind. For example, the Second World War was choreographed. Roosevelt, Stalin, Churchill and Hitler were all Illuminati. They were actually on /the same side./ Humanity ignorantly slaughtering itself was on the other side. As Pike's letter indicates, the Nazis were intended to lose and the Communists to gain control of Eastern Europe. This is why the Nazis made so many stupid blunders on the Eastern Front and deliberately alienated the anti Communist Russians. Similarly today, George Bush, John Kerry, Tony Blair, Ariel Sharon, Gerhard Schroeder are Freemasons. I am guessing but I expect Vladimir Putin and some significant Iranian leaders are also tied to the Illuminati. They may not be aware of the big picture but if they deviate, they will be assassinated like Israeli PM, Yitzhak Rabin who was also a Freemason. Sadaam Hussein is rumoured to be a high-ranking Freemason with longstanding business ties to George H.W. Bush and the CIA. This would explain why Bush didn't remove him in 1991; and why there are reports he was secretly airlifted out of the country in the first days of the 2003 war. www.rense.com/general40/saw.htm The current Iraq war was planned years in advance to discredit and mire the U.S. in a Vietnam-style war and set it and Israel up for confrontation with a nuclear-armed Iran backed by Russia and possibly China. Osama Bin Laden is probably also Illuminati. See "Bush, Bin Laden Serve the Same Master" www.savethemales.ca/251102.html and "Osama bin London" www.larouchepub.com/other/2001/2838bin-london.html The whole Iranian Islamic Republic was put in place by the Illuminati. See Peter Goodgame's comprehensive report: "The Globalists and the Islamists." www.redmoonrising.com/Ikhwan/Clash.htm Thus while the majority of people on both sides may believe in their cause, and be willing to fight and die, history suggests war is always a hoax aimed at destroying the righteous on both sides, and establishing the power of the Illuminati in a one-world government. "Out of these troubled times, our objective: a new world order can emerge," President George H. W. Bush told the U.N. on September 11^th 1990. "Today, that new world is struggling to be born, a world quite different from the one we have known." In 1992, George H.W. Bush told White House reporter Sarah McClendon: "If the people were to ever find out what we have done, we would be chased down the streets and lynched." We cannot understand the world until we appreciate that most leaders are traitors and that mankind is victim of a diabolical conspiracy on an unspeakable scale. It's time we stopped taking sides and addressed the real enemy. U.S. mulls strikes on Syria By Richard Sale UPI Intelligence Correspondent www.washtimes.com/upi-breaking/20050111-105709-6329r.htm

The Vietnam turnout was good as well No amount of spin can conceal Iraqis' hostility to US occupation On September 4 1967 the New York Times published an upbeat story on presidential elections held by the South Vietnamese puppet regime at the height of the Vietnam war. Under the heading “US encouraged by Vietnam vote: Officials cite 83% turnout despite Vietcong terror”, the paper reported that the Americans had been “surprised and heartened” by the size of the turnout “despite a Vietcong terrorist campaign to disrupt the voting”. A successful election, it went on, “has long been seen as the keystone in President Johnson’s policy of encouraging the growth of constitutional processes in South Vietnam”. The echoes of this weekend’s propaganda about Iraq’s elections are so close as to be uncanny. With the past few days’ avalanche of spin, you could be forgiven for thinking that on January 30 2005 the US-led occupation of Iraq ended and the people won their freedom and democratic rights. This has been a multi-layered campaign, reminiscent of the pre-war WMD frenzy and fantasies about the flowers Iraqis were collecting to throw at the invasion forces. How you could square the words democracy, free and fair with the brutal reality of occupation, martial law, a US-appointed election commission and secret candidates has rarely been allowed to get in the way of the hype. If truth is the first casualty of war, reliable numbers must be the first casualty of an occupation-controlled election. The second layer of spin has been designed to convince us that an overwhelming majority of Iraqis participated. The initial claim of 72% having voted was quickly downgraded to 57% of those registered to vote. So what percentage of the adult population is registered to vote? The Iraqi ambassador in London was unable to enlighten me. In fact, as UN sources confirm, there has been no registration or published list of electors – all we are told is that about 14 million people were entitled to vote. As for Iraqis abroad, the up to 4 million strong exiled community (with perhaps a little over 2 million entitled to vote) produced a 280,000 registration figure. Of those, 265,000 actually voted. The Iraqi south, more religious than Baghdad, responded positively to Grand Ayatollah al-Sistani’s position: to call the bluff of the US and vote for a list that was proclaimed to be hostile to the occupation. Sistani’s supporters declared that voting on Sunday was the first step to kicking out the occupiers. The months ahead will put these declarations to a severe test. Meanwhile Moqtada al-Sadr’s popular movement, which rejected the elections as a sham, is likely to make a comeback in its open resistance to the occupation. The big vote in Kurdistan primarily reflects the Kurdish people’s demand for national self-determination. The US administration has hitherto clamped down on these pressures. Henry Kissinger’s recent proposal to divide Iraq into three states reflects a major shift among influential figures in the US who, led by Kissinger as secretary of state, ditched the Kurds in the 70s and brokered a deal between Saddam and the Shah of Iran. George Bush and Tony Blair made heroic speeches on Sunday implying that Iraqis had voted to approve the occupation. Those who insist that the US is desperate for an exit strategy are misreading its intentions. The facts on the ground, including the construction of massive military bases in Iraq, indicate that the US is digging in to install and back a long-term puppet regime. For this reason, the US-led presence will continue, with all that entails in terms of bloodshed and destruction. In the run-up to the poll, much of the western media presented it as a high-noon shootout between the terrorist Zarqawi and the Iraqi people, with the occupation forces doing their best to enable the people to defeat the fiendish, one-legged Jordanian murderer. In reality, Zarqawi-style sectarian violence is not only condemned by Iraqis across the political spectrum, including supporters of the resistance, but is widely seen as having had a blind eye turned to it by the occupation authorities. Such attitudes are dismissed by outsiders, but the record of John Negroponte, the US ambassador in Baghdad, of backing terror gangs in central America in the 80s has fuelled these fears, as has Seymour Hersh’s reports on the Pentagon’s assassination squads and enthusiasm for the “Salvador option”. An honest analysis of the social and political map of Iraq reveals that Iraqis are increasingly united in their determination to end the occupation. Whether they participated in or boycotted Sunday’s exercise, this political bond will soon reassert itself – just as it did in Vietnam – despite tactical differences, and despite the US-led occupation’s attempts to dominate Iraqis by inflaming sectarian and ethnic divisions. A bankrupt export of democracy By Tony Karon Those who fear that the second Bush term will bring a new crusade for democracy led by the Third Infantry Division are missing the bigger picture. Just as the soaring, unyieldingly principled visions of Natan Sharansky - its prime inspiration - don't ultimately determine the policy decisions of the government of which he forms a part, so will President Bush's lofty inaugural speech about "lighting the fires of liberty" have precious little bearing on the tough strategic choices that will confront his administration over the next four years. Don't take my word for it; the president's father said pretty much the same thing straight afterward, advising journalists not to interpret the speech as reflecting any shift in U.S. foreign policy. It was just a speech about freedom, he said. Nor did it leave the designated tyrants such as Iran and North Korea, much less such useful autocrats as Musharraf and Mubarak, quivering in their boots. That's because Bush's Iraq policy has served as a demonstration less of American power, than of its limits and vulnerabilities. "You run this town because people think you run this town," goes an old gangster movie line. And Iraq has given both friend and foe cause to question whether the U.S. is quite the power that the rhetoric of its tough-talking sheriff of a president would suggest. By cocking a snoot at the United Nations in order to go to war, the Bush administration did not bury the international body as some of its more rabid conservatives had hoped. Instead, it inadvertently signaled traditional allies that they can take the once-unthinkable step of saying no to Washington - and live with the consequences. The failure to find weapons of mass destruction and the raging insurgency have prompted many of the allies that had been cajoled into joining the "coalition of the willing," to simply go home. It is not France, Germany and Russia who stand isolated on Iraq today. Spain led the way out of Iraq, but was quickly followed by a number of Latin American and Asian countries, and much of Donald Rumsfeld's "New Europe" has moved to do the same. Indeed, one of the first actions of the newly free government of Ukraine has been to order home the troops sent by the corrupt old guard to join the "coalition of the willing." And while Bush claimed the turnout in the Iraq election as Exhibit "A" in his case for global democratic activism, the Shi'ite coalition that looks to have won the lion's share of the votes had campaigned on a promise to "end the occupation." Being the "leader of the free world" requires a following, but Bush today finds precious little support in the free world for his export of democracy. So, as much as Bush wagged his fingers at the petty autocrats who serve Washington's purposes in various hot spots, he can't really do without a Musharraf or a Mubarak. And while Iran may be at the top of Bush's "regime-change" wish list, Tehran is well aware that the U.S. military is badly overstretched in Iraq - as is the record-breaking U.S. budget deficit, which grows by $4 billion each week that the troops stay in Iraq. The U.S. quite simply cannot afford another major war of choice right now, and occupying a country three times the size of Iraq may be beyond its capability until it reintroduces the draft. Britain has made a point of not only begging off an Iran adventure, but actively agitating against a military option for dealing with Tehran. While Bush and Condoleeza Rice paint a picture of the Western world locked in a mortal struggle for survival against "Islamist totalitarianism" on a scale of the Cold War or World War II, to much of the rest of the world, they sound distracted by secondary issues. Nobody's making the problem of Islamist terrorism the organizing principle of their foreign policy, and rather than dividing into two camps, today's geopolitical map is showing a plethora of horizontal connections of growing economic, political and sometimes even military significance. These connections, which are increasingly simply bypassing Bush's efforts to tee up Iran via the UN, will come to naught not simply because of the Iraq debacle, but because China's burgeoning thirst for fossil fuels has prompted it to make a $30-billion investment in exploiting Iran's oil and natural gas reserves. And when China's central bank admonishes the U.S. over the slide of the dollar, its message resonates a lot more immediately with the concerns of many of America's traditional allies than does Bush's sermon on liberty. Being the world's largest debtor nation, America's weakening currency may be a portent of serious troubles ahead. So, whatever Bush's revolutionary ambitions, he may well find himself grounded by an old Clintonian mantra: "It's the economy, stupid." Hariri reportedly assassinated to make way for large US air base in Lebanon By Wayne Madsen www.onlinejournal.com/Special_Reports/031105Madsen/031105madsen.htmlMarch 11, 2005—According to high-level Lebanese intelligence sources—Christian and Muslim—former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri was reportedly assassinated in a sophisticated explosion-by-wire bombing authorized by the Bush administration and Ariel Sharon's Likud government in Israel. There are also strong indications that the Hariri assassination was carried out by the same rogue Syrian intelligence agents used in the 2002 car bombing assassination of Lebanese Christian leader Elie Hobeika, who was prepared to testify against Sharon in a Brussels human rights court. That case involved the Israeli Prime Minister's role in the 1982 massacre by Israeli troops of Palestinian refugees at the Sabra and Chatilla camps in Beirut. The Hariri assasination used wire-bombing technology because Hariri's security personnel used electronic countermeasures to fend off a remote control bomb using wireless means. It has been revealed that the Bush administration has used Syrian intelligence agents to torture al Qaeda suspects through the program known as "extraordinary rendition." Hariri, a pan-Arabist and Lebanese nationalist, was known to adamantly oppose the construction of a major U.S. air base in the north of Lebanon. The United States wants Syrian troops completely out of Lebanon before construction of the base is initiated. Hariri's meetings with Hezbollah shortly before his death also angered Washington and Jerusalem, according to the Lebanese intelligence sources. Washington and Jerusalem media experts spun Hariri's assassination as being the work of Syrian intelligence on orders from President Bashar Assad. However, a number of Middle East political observers in Washington claim that Hariri's assassination was not in the interests of Assad, but that the Bush and Sharon administrations had everything to gain from it, including the popular Lebanese uprising against the Syrian occupation. Lebanese intelligence sources report that even without a formal agreement with Lebanon, the contract for the northern Lebanese air base has been let by the Pentagon to Jacobs Engineering Group of Pasadena, California. Other construction support will be provided by Bechtel Corporation. Jacobs Engineering and Jacobs Sverdrup are currently contracted for work in Saudi Arabia for Aramco, Iraq for the U.S. occupation authority, Bosnia, Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Jordan, Yemen, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates. The Lebanese air base is reportedly to be used as a transit and logistics hub for U.S. forces in Iraq and as a rest and relaxation location for U.S. troops in the region. In addition, the Lebanese base will be used to protect U.S. oil pipelines in the region (Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan and Mosul/Kirkuk-Ceyhan) as well as to destabilize the Assad government in Syria. The size of the planned air base reportedly is on the scale of the massive American Al Udeid air base in Qatar. A number of intelligence sources have reported that assassinations of foreign leaders like Hariri and Hobeika are ultimately authorized by two key White House officials, Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove and Deputy National Security Adviser Elliot Abrams. In addition, Abrams is the key liaison between the White House and Sharon's office for such covert operations, including political assassinations. "Abrams is the guy they [the Israelis] go to for a wink and a nod for such ops," reported one key source. India unfazed by US opposition to Iran-Pak-India pipeline June 15, 2005 19:12 IST India on Wednesday said 'it was unfazed' by the United States' opposition to the Iran-Pakistan-India pipeline, adding it will continue to pursue gas imports from Iran to meet its energy requirements. "I am unfazed specially because my friend and Cambridge college mate, Pakistani Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri had given a befitting reply (to US opposition) in Washington," Petroleum Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar told PTI in New Delhi. US Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice is reported to have warned Pakistan of sanctions if it continued to pursue the proposed pipeline project to meet its energy demands. Iran pipeline may be extended to China: Aiyar "So long as India, Pakistan and Iran hang together, there is every assurance of energy needs of India and Pakistan being met on the basis of remunerative returns for Iran and affordable price for India and Pakistan," Kasuri said. Kasuri is reported to have told Rice that Islamabad was pursuing the pipeline as Pakistan would become an energy deficit country by 2009-10. Aiyar said India today needs 100 million standard cubic mt per day of gas and imports from countries in the neighbourhood like Iran were the only economic and sustainable source for meeting the need of the fast growing economy. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Court backs executive order barring Iran trade Reuters Wednesday, June 15, 2005; 3:58 PM SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Upholding a presidential executive order, a U.S. appeals court ruled on Wednesday that U.S. citizens affiliated with foreign companies are barred from providing financial backing for investments in Iran. In its decision, the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals said the executive order signed by President Bill Clinton in 1997 bars trade between U.S. and Iranian firms, which includes financing for the trade arranged by U.S. citizens wherever they are. "Overall, these sanctions aim to induce Iran's government to reduce the threat that, according to the Executive Order, Iran poses to United States interests," Judge Marsha Berzon wrote in the decision. She added that the "prohibition against investment goes to the heart of the economic sanctions regime. Investment in Iran directly aids the Iranian economy whether or not it ultimately leads to an exchange of goods between Iran and the United States." The court's ruling reverses a federal district court's decision that held the executive order did not extend to a U.S. citizen affiliated with a firm in Hong Kong. That U.S. citizen had guaranteed financial backing to an Iranian company so it could pay for government licenses and fees to harvest brine shrimp eggs from a lake in Iran. The American refused to honor the commitment, triggering a breach-of-contract lawsuit by a Canadian who had acquired the rights to the guarantees. The appeals court ruled the guarantees cannot be enforced because they are illegal under the executive order. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- NPR Italy Plans September Withdrawal of Iraq Troops by Sylvia Poggioli Morning Edition, March 16, 2005 · Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi announces he will start withdrawing the country's 3,000 troops from Iraq starting in September.
