( this one is a dedication to a young man I love so very much, but he was killed earlier in 2004....)

Walking the sand covered cement
called Tropicana Blvd, I noticed those places
and traces of our faces on so many windowsills.

I saw us when we ate dinner at NewYork New York,
nothing fancy, just the Coney Island Dogs, but
it made you so happy so I ate one just to share
the joy of your heart;

I remember how we posed before the pyramids,
I thought I was a movie star, dark shades and a big red hat,
and you played the part, like I was famous;
"Here's looking at you kid!"

Then we went inside the wedding chapel and
shared our love with the couples on the plunge,
deciding if one day we would really stand inside of one,
but not really caring about the formalities,
because our love was much bigger than Elvis and Trump....

J, I wanted so bad to have a really good time but
everywhere I turned, it hurt like hell because
God took you away;
If you only knew how hard I am trying
(well, of course you know)
then you could tell me when this pain will go away;
I am glad to still feel you, but I want it to be
a little warmer than just the winds from the desert sands....
