Out with the wife and kids this weekend, I witnessed a couple disturbing incidences that really made me think about the relationship of parents and their children...
I. At the local shopping mall : A man, woman and two young boys - probably ages 8 and 6 - were walking towards the entrance of the plaza. Upon entering the younger boy ran from within his fathers reach to look in a store window that was decorated with Halloween decorations. A real eye catching display. A store worker was in the window finishing up his window dressings. The father, enraged at his son yelled out "Boy, get the fuck over here... that white man dont wanna look at you!"
II. A man and his son were riding down an escalator at a department store. The boy, again no more than 6 years old, was understandably curious... and well... somehow got his shoe stuck in the escalator when he reached the bottom. The whole aparatus shut down abruptly and people were nearly toppling over each other as a result. The boy panicked and forcefully ripped his shoe from the jaws of the cerrated steps. The father, seeing this, grabbed the boy by the arm and dragged him to the back of the store where you can not help but hear the abusive shouts..." You just fucked up a 60$ pair of shoes... do you realize that?!!"
---------
I could not help but feel sorry for, not only the children, but for the parents who just dont have a clue. Parents that are more inclined to express their hatred for another race or their love of money than for their concern for their childrens safety.
I think of their homelife. The values that are programmed into their minds. -A direct reflection of their parents values- and thats not saying much. People wonder why the world is steadily going down hill. Each generation is failing to adequately instill sufficient values into the next and as a result... the next will fail to do so as well.
