The original story from the AP wire www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2004/04/05/study_links_tv_childrens_attention_deficit says that TV MIGHT rewire childrens brains and MAY be linked to ADHD... whitedot.org... the anti-television site that is mentioned in this article docbug.com/blog/archives/000114.htmlhas disappeared from the net... thats where i originally read THIS article www.rense.com/general58/tvad.htmthat i thought was maaad on point, despite being on rense, and being crticized by that second link most relevant quote from the AP article "The American Academy of Pediatrics said in 1999 that children under the age of 2 should not watch television because of concerns it affects early brain growth and the development of social, emotional, and cognitive skills." i think this is an important issue add-on peace

I'll read the links and say more later, but ADHD doesn't exist. Well, it might, but most cases are manufactured bullshit to keep the kids drugged up.

PEACE TAM
it seems that the tragedy is that TV COULD be a good tool for expanding consciousness
it will be eventually i am sure
a tv - like any other piece of electronic equipment - is a communication device
the thing that is unique about tv is that it is like knowing a guy who keeps you entertained but keeps on trying to tell you shit
and sometimes he don't tell the truth
PEACE

P+E(AC)=E
Too much television at a young age destroys imagination/creativity and certainly dumbs down. So called ADD could be a side effect of lack of imagination; and there's the consumer culture creation aspects, MMC etc..

Peace, It's funny how ya'll brought this up cause I just wrote a whole paper about the effects of media and a child's behavior, Pyschology class has really been a pain as well as a great journey to growth in understanding in my behalf, see children are like sponges, whatever you expose to them they will try to replicate, I dunno about ADD or ADHd but monkey see is monkey do and dat is wut children do best, our media exposes us everyday with bullshit from sex to violence not to a minimum but to utmost extreme which is really not healthy for children, it's already bad enough these lil' shorties gotta deal with the real world, and the media feeding them with such drastic visualizations, from my opinion and as well as facts, children do get influenced upon what they see on tv. Peace

I know this is an older thread, but I had to comment as a mother and teacher...while it could said that tv is just electronic media, the messages that are sent and the rate of transmission is to much of the wrong type of stimulation for young children...the first 3-5 years they need to COMPLETELY develop their imagination (it will serve them well later on)...we all know that images/symbols vibrate on all levels conscious and unconsious.....so if we were controlling the content and messages of tv we could "program" our children's thinking to serve a purpose higher than buying the latest piece of colored plastic that doesn't promote any real cognitive function other than lining the pockets of the corporations and creating another consumer slave
