To further break it down, the 4 Elements is an abstract and holistic classification system for all things in existence. According to traditional wisdom the Elements stem from Nu/Ra - the undifferentiated energy/matter and universal life-force or Qi as some would say. Ra is expressed in two main, fundamental phases
COLD and
HOT or
Yin and
Yang . In between these extremes we get the states of
Dryness and
Moisture. These are key states and they symbolize the Elements. They are not to be taken on face value, literally but understood as abstract, holistic ideas in an attempt to break down and understand nature's codes, patters and cycles. For instance FIRE could represent the Cacti or a Lion or Summer time or Garlic or a zealous person - all embody the spiritual principles embodied in the element Fire. Use the above chart for more such relations. To illustrate my idea, it would like like something like this:
NU/RA/QI

[Two Main Sub-Phases]

4 ELEMENTS
All things in existence fall into any of these categories. They cooperate with each other to create the entire cycle.
NOW LET'S BRAKE IT DOWN IN RELATION TO PEOPLE AND HOW WE ARE WHAT WE ARE GOOD AT AND WHAT WE LACK:
HOT - Men, energy, courage, zreal, leadership
drawback: Lack of water resulting in problems with remaining calm and clear, lacking proper intuition
COLD - Women, calm, passive, intuitive, caring, sweet, receptive (to emotion as well)
drawback: Lack of heat resulting in fear, gullibility, lack of motivation, defendant, craving security
MOIST - Receptivity to emotions and metaphysical phenomena
drawback: Lack of dryness resulting in the inability to overcome emotionality, lack of perseverance
DRY - Perseverance in sticking to ideas and concepts, reasoning and intellect
drawback: Lack of moisture resulting in the inability to direct ourselves intuitively/spiritually, stubbornness.

Now as elements (states):
Hot/Moist AIR -- These people have a healthy energetic (fire) drive to accomplish their goals. Their moderate moisture renders them conducive to their lower nature (emotions, sensuality, pleasures) if not controlled in accordance with divine law and a successful intuition but also are conducive to intuition. Their thinking if properly cultivated is guided by recognizing relationships and similarities among the differences in the world and their life. These people lack coldness and dryness which is apparent in their inability to remain calm and passive in face of challenges and other situations in which they are required to be so. The lack of dryness is seen in their failure to persevere in their goals. They will benefit from observing the Cold/Dry people.
Hot/Dry FIRE -- These people have an extremely or moderately energetic/forceful approach to life's situations. They exert themselves physically and are motivated by work and challenges. Their dryness makes them less receptive to emotions. They have a tendency to "overheat" themselves. They are most prone to inflammations. Their lack of coldness (yin energy) puts them in the danger of not being able to remain calm and peaceful and understanding in many situations in their life. Their lack of moisture damages their intuition and wise judgment. They will benefit from spending time with Cold/Moist people. This might be difficult as they lack patience sometimes.
Cold/Dry EARTH -- These people have a calmer approach to life. They are intellectual, communicative, logical. They lack the fire to perform energetic tasks and work and cater more to the development of the intellect. They are not too good with visuals, images, art. They are prone to emotions and lack the fire to overcome them. They are persistent and persevere in their tasks although most of their time their goals are based on improper ideas. Their lack of fire takes away the ability to undertake courageous and challenging situations. The lack of moisture puts them in danger of improper intuition and judgment. They learn from energetic and courageous (fire) people.
Cold/Moist WATER -- These individuals are very emotional, calm, peaceful. They avoid conflict and challenging situations. They seek ease of life and security. They rely on energetic individuals. They are creative, funny and pleasant to be with. Their moisture makes them extremely intuitive and receptive. They are not easily motivated to perform energetic (fire) tasks. They like sweet foods and comfort. They can be lazy and the lack of fire makes them incapable of facing those situations that require them to be zealous, energetic and not fearful. They have a tough time fighting with their emotions as they are conducive to them. Their lack of dryness hurts their logical and intellectual abilities, they could be naive. They learn from energetic, Hot/Dry people.
