THE SUFIS, by Indries Shah is a mildly interesting book exposing the undergound influence of Sufism in many cultures and literary works, and the meaning of Sufism as far as that can be translated into a book.
An interesting noteworthy Sufic quote from the book states that one should, "Seek knowlege, even as far as China" which reminded me of the quote from one of the early black moslem movements in America where a student is advised to "Seek knowlege, even as far as Asia". Perhaps its from the Koran, but it does not say so in this book.
China is then explained to be a symbol repreenting "mental concentration" which is paralel to the teaching that Asia means a certain element of the mind in esoteric schools in America.
Interesting that a persian/arab code could still be used today. Has anyone concidered the posibilty of a Sufic conection with the teachings of todays American Black Moslem Movements? This conection is further sugested by the fact that on the same page, page 202, "the Black Man" is described as an "important and mysterious figures in bothe North European and Spanish Arab acounts of witchcraft rites. Perhaps the conection is simply through the Masons, as both the Sufies and the Black Moslems have ties or links to Masonry.

Yeah the Sufis are peace! I read the book the Sufi Book of Spiritual Ascent and learned much about the Sufi principles as well. I definitely see that relation in mysticism and arcane knowledge of the Sufis and the Black Muslims or Moors. Also I see the correlation between the Sufi orders and the pre-Islamic civilizations in Sumer, Kamit and Indus Kush. The Sufi books are much recommended it's almost like Buddhist or Taoist works in a way from the perspective of their subtle teachings. I always like reading them. Peace

Word. See now I really want to read up on Sufi material more now that you've compared it to Budda and Tao. Tao is my shit. Tao and Hermetic philosophy is what put me on the plane I'm on now...

Yeah I'm in the States. Utah in fact. ;D
If I have free time to elaborate more on similar subjects soon I will. Specifically finding ones who know about the pre-Brahmin, and pre-Tibetan teachings of Adi-Yoga or Dzogchen. Meaning the Adi-Yoga teachings of the Dravidians, Tamils, or even the pre-Dravidian cultures who are said to have lived in India thousands and thousands of years ago. Ra Un Nefer Amen hints at some of the pre-Brahmin Mother Goddess teachings of Tantra, although what I've seen in Metu Neter seems more akin to Anu-Yoga, Maha-Yoga, Yoga-Tantra, Charya-Yoga, Kriya-Yoga, etc. Adi-Yoga includes all of these Tantras, however it is not dependent on them. Samael Aun Weor's students claim that the Gnosticism they teach is synonymous with Dzogchen or Adi-Yoga, but SAW's teachings stress the gradual-path and karma, which could make them synonymous with Anu-Yoga and/or Mahamudra at best. Perhaps I'm not correct on all this.
Anyway Longevity, if you have any questions, I should be around every once in a while to post and check my PM's.
Peace
