PEACE and Blessings to the Cradle...
...this is something I posted at KTL a couple of months or so ago. Thought I'd post it here as well. In put would be much appreciated.
Yin and Yang
"The universe is run by a single principle, the Tao, or Great Ultimate. This principle is divided into two opposite principles, or two principles which oppose one another in their actions, yin and yang. All the opposites one perceives in the universe can be reduced to one of the opposite forces..."
...Under yang are the principles of maleness, the sun, creation, heat, light, Heaven, dominance, and so on, and under yin are the principles of femaleness, the moon, completion, cold, darkness, material forms, submission, and so on. Each of these opposites produce the other: Heaven creates the ideas of things under yang, the earth produces their material forms under yin, and vice versa; creation occurs under the principle of yang, the completion of the created thing occurs under yin, and vice versa, and so on...
In the Kamitic spiritual science we find the yin and yang concept, termed Tefnut and Shu respectively:
from Metu Neter Vol. II by RA UN NEFER AMEN
Quote:
Shu, represented by fire, air, and heat corresponds to the quality of expansiveness, rising, centrifugal forces, positive, masculine, outgoing, outside, extroversion, etc...Tefnut, represented by moisture, and the objective material basis of manifestation, corresponds to contraction, downward movement, centripetal forces, negative, feminine, receptive, inner, introspection etc.
We are all aware of the fact that ours is a male dominated society. With the dominance of the male aspect, then, comes the dominance of the characteristics of Shu or Yang. This is easily seen even with just a passing glance.
Related to all this is the fact that, in general, men use predominately the left side of the brain. The characteristics of each hemisphere of the brain, not suprisingly, see the left side fall under the principle of Shu/Yang and the right side of the brain as Tefnut/Yin.
Left side of the Brain (Shu/Yang/Masculine)
in charge of noting the differences between things
seperating wholes into parts
enabling us to deal with all sequential phenomena
Right side of the Brain (Tefnut/Yin/Feminine)
in charge of noting the similarities between things, and their relation to each other and the whole thus unifying them
Thus we can see that a society dominated by the Shu/Yang/Masculine/Left side of the Brain is a society dominated by differences:
Racism, sexism, and any other form of prejudice will always prevail as long as our society is dominated by the Shu/Yang principle and this isn't the half of it. The other characteristics have long been in the foreground as well.
Dominance over others and over nature, the need to divide and conquer, destruction in the form of wars, crime, immorality, etc, looking outside of oneself for happiness ie. materialism, the seperation of peoples into groups based on external factors (country, race, sex, age, social standing, wealth, fame) and with it a determined value. This list can go on and on.
Why our society is male dominated may well have been out of our hands:
from An Afrocentric Guide to a Spiritual Union by Ra Un Nefer Amen
Quote:
A study of nature will show that throughout the mammalian species, the male is the dominant figure in the society. The reason is twofold. In the animal world, because of the absence of intellectual, moral and spiritual faculties, "physical force" is the only way of establishing and maintaining law and order in the group. Now, man inherits this instinct from the animal structures in his spirit/brain. It is intended to serve the same funtion in man's social life, until he/she succeeds in evolving the intellectual, moral and spiritual abilities which are the true faculties for mediating law and order. The second reason for the positioning of "physical force" as the foundation of social order is that eventually force is an indispensable requirement for upholding the law. Since force can cause wrong to prevail over right, thus the need to replace it as the warden of law and order with morality and spirituality.
However, now there is no excuse. We now have the intellectual abilities to realise that the animalistic infuences must be done away with so that morality and spirituality can prevail. Essentially spirituality is acting in accordance with Universal Law, that is the great balance of Tefnut and Shu, Yin and Yang, the Right and Left hemisphere of the Brain.
The traditions that see woman in a subordinate (sub; "under" + ordinare; "arrange") position in western culture (and especially western religion) is one of the main reasons the world is in its current state.
Woman and Man are the ultimate representation of Yin and Yang, the ultimate representation of the complementary opposites.
When such a representation of Yin and Yang is unbalanced as it currently is, the downward spiral into destruction (Yang/Male principle!) will continue.
PEACE, BE STILL
