Has anybody come across any well-detailed and well-explained alternatives (either historical or current) to our current calendar system?
I have been toying with this frequently over the last few years (hobby / research) and am trying to actively develop a better solution than our current linear grid pattern calendars
there is nothing linear or grid-like about a rotating planet that revolves around a star
trying to put together something that captures the organizational aspects of what we have now with the reality of the situation (the fact that we never experience the same 7 days, but are in fact on a infinitely endless path)
any direction / resources would be useful
Peace

peace king
no doubt i def feel you on this idea.
it seems as though time/space is giving us the illusion of continually ticking away and various cultures tried to embody it scientifically and practically to adapt to our lifestyle.
true indeed time is nothing but an illusion, a cycle from the moment the sun sets and rises on the horizon. i always had this theory that we live thru the same 24 hours each day it is only that the spirit itself produces new physical realities as we regenerate/reborn ki energy in our sleep.
as for the solid calculation of time i cannot provide an original idea of my own but apply how various people throughout time looked at it.
calendars existed since times immemorial and currently we are on the gregorian calender.
we can synchronize time with the 28 day cycle of the moon, and the lunar calender was in fact used widely among cultures and customs. others looked at the big picture and considered individual years as pieces of a great cycle like for instance the mayans had based on the 25.000 year cycle of the procession of the equinoxes and each phase divided by the cultures' zodiak would have its spiritual influence.
others calculated time braking it down to the day's degree like in the supreme mathematics where each day represents a piece of physical and correspondent mental reality. in the kamitic view we can break down each day to the influence of planetary and divine bodies controlling it. for example sunday is the day of the sun a hot and dry energy governed by HERU. Monday is the day of the Moon the cold and moist energies embodied in the goddess AUSET. Tuesday is Marsian, hot/dry and reigned by HERUKHUTI. Wednesday is cold and dry, mercury, SEBEK. Thursday is hot and moist governed by Jupiter and MAAT. Friday is cold and moist, Venus, HETHERU. Saturday is cold and dry governed by Saturn, SEKER
If I was embarking on such a project I would considered these things... my 2 cents brother and def let me know how you're doing with this.
Much Blessings!
