Those who know don't talk. Those who talk don't know.
Close your mouth, block off your senses, blunt your sharpness, untie your knots, soften your glare, settle your dust. This is the primal identity.
Be like the Tao. It can't be approached or withdrawn from, benefited or harmed, honored or brought into disgrace. It gives itself up continually. That is why it endures.
I was meditating on this powerful passage today wanted to share it here. I find much sense here in what Lao Tzu is trying to convey - block off your senses, settle your dust.
Wisdom tends to be paradoxical for the average person it hurts me that most people would laugh at it if they were told to blunt their sharpness. The tao teaches that those who try to shine dim their own light.
I love just randomly opening up this book and enjoying the tip of the day/circumstance.
As a tribute Peace, Love and Respect to all Sages of the past. Wisdom that has survived thousands of years is helping a man understand the world within.

have you ever considered what the difference would be between "talking' and 'communicating' in Lao Tzu's vernacular?

never thought of it in that exact way but def see what you're saying. words are utterances of our spirit and they can be intellectually appealing yet empty and on the other hand practical yet simple.

Taoism is one of my spiritual sub-genres per se. It helped me unlock many doors in the 120 lessons.
Lao Tzu was on a whole other planet with this way of life that he advocated.
Those who know don't talk. Those who talk don't know.
To me the above means that it's been known for Centuries that Lip Professing is for bullshiters. Also it brings to mind a saying in NOI and NGE:
The 85% ask because they don't know. The 5% ask because they want to know. _________
Be like the Tao. It can't be approached or withdrawn from, benefited or harmed, honored or brought into disgrace. It gives itself up continually. That is why it endures.
Change the word Tao in the above passage with Universe and it brings it to light.
Balance is such a beautiful thing.

Tru say fam!
It's ironic how people are how you can have for instance a heavily educated person who think he/she knows and professes information in a lot of cases misinformation not having any spiritual fundament and talking out of their ass for it as where on the other hand you got the humble wise student who understands the worth of spoken words as expressions of the inner voice and how ill speaking affects the mental plane.
this science gets deep. the fool will try to teach, convert, influece when the wiseman will do nothing and all things will take their shape - another taoist philosophy.
tru indeed that these lessons can be related to all others this is how we recognize their universality within the different concepts of man.
