What are your favorite gun movies? You know, the ones where its like two hours of non-stop shooting.
I have several and for different reasons.
A. The Killer
No need to even speak on it.
B. Equilibrium
The gunplay was just brilliant. Nothing like it had been seen before and the concept is still the coolest shooting method I've seen in a movie. It was kicking ass right up until the end when he used the gun push hands. I don't even know what to say about that scene other than to say that its one of the most original and impressive fights I've ever seen.
C. Time and Tide
Couldn't tell you what this movie was about if someone put a gun to my head. Multilingual mercanaries and a body guard shoot eachother for some odd reason. I have no idea what they're fighting over and really, whos fighting. Point is, this movie has excellent shootouts. One of the best moments is near the beginning. The mercernaries attack a jail or outpost or something. Why? I don't know, but they kick a lot of ass. First you have good shooting. Then what seems like a big "Fuck you" to John Woo. Then to top it off, one of the better uses of grenades in a movie. And thats just the beginning.
D. The Matrix
The lobby scene is one of the best shootouts ever. Period.

I totally agree with you about both the MATRIX and EQUILIBRIUM.
The gun play in the latter was perfectly choreographed.
I know this one might sound a bit strange coming from me, but I also have to vote for TOMBSTONE.
I don't do too many WESTERNS, but this piece was well x-ecuted.
DOC HOLIDAY was one of the greatest 'SLINGERS in history, and this film portrayed him awesome.

As long as you've seen Equilibrium, what are your opinions on the subtext?

As long as you've seen Equilibrium, what are your opinions on the subtext? What do you mean? Are you refering to the underlined messages therein? If so, I have lots of ideas about that particular film. Still can't find the film to buy though; luckily it comes on TV (HBO) quite often, so that I can watch it regularly.

Just caught Tombstone. Great movie. Doc Holiday was the one that got sick, right?

If you read the book, the action is supposed to be 10 times better. Plus it touches on deeper issues.
